Novell Announces Novell InnerWeb Publisher

Provides Complete Solution for Publishing Internal Web Documents on
Corporate Intranets

INTERNET WORLD, SAN JOSE, CALIF. -- APRIL 30, 1996 -- Novell, Inc. today
announced a corporate intranet publishing suite, Novell InnerWeb
Publisher, designed to bring the power of the World Wide Web to users'
existing corporate networks. The suite includes the world's fastest web
server, a web browser, a web-page authoring tool, an IPX-to-IP translator
and the NetWare 4.1 Runtime operating system.

"This convenient, cost-effective publishing solution gives users everything
they need to turn their internal networks into corporate intranets, all in
one box," said Vic Langford, senior vice president and general manager of
Novell's Internet/Intranet Services Business Unit. "This represents
another stage in Novell's continued commitment to make it easy for users
to improve productivity, reduce costs and facilitate communication," he
added.

Intranets, corporate internal networks enhanced with Internet technologies
and secured against external access, are expected to grow much faster than
the Internet. Zona Research, a market-research firm in Redwood City,
California, predicts that the installed intranet base will surpass the
Internet base this year, as will shipments of corporate intranet products.
The firm further predicts that spending on servers for corporate intranet
applications will grow from $1.63 billion this year to $7.83 billion in
1998.

NetWare Web Server 2.5

The central element of Novell InnerWeb Publisher is Novell's newly released
NetWare Web Server 2.5, a NetWare Loadable Module (NLM) that lets
customers utilize NetWare servers as the core of their fully fledged web
sites. Users can install and configure the software quickly and easily on
an existing NetWare 4.1 server, without having to learn new languages or
protocols.

The fastest web server on the market, NetWare Web Server 2.5 is the only
web server that allows users to browse Novell Directory Services (NDS) to
locate critical information on network users and resources. The product
features Java applet support and gives developers a choice of three
interfaces. Additionally, NetWare Web Server 2.5 supports fault tolerance
and leverages the security features inherent in NetWare and in the
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). The NetWare Web
Server comes with a license for one server, which supports an unlimited
number of users.

Other Elements

In addition to the NetWare Web Server, Novell InnerWeb Publisher also
includes Netscape Navigator 2.01, SoftQuad's HoTMetaL Light, Quarterdeck's
IWare Lite and NetWare 4.1 Runtime.

Netscape Navigator 2.01 -- This version of the world's most popular browser
supports the latest Internet technology including Java, JavaScript and
Inline Plug-Ins. Additionally, the product features an integrated e-mail
and news reader, HyperText Markup Language (HTML) support and a bookmark
facility. Netscape Navigator comes with a license for 50 users, but may be
upgraded for additional users.

HoTMetaL Light -- This HTML authoring tool combines high-powered templates
and forms tools with traditional word-processing features to make it easy
for users to quickly create effective web pages. HoTMetaL Light comes with
a multi-user license that allows up to five people to use the product
simultaneously.

IWare Lite -- This product enables web access over Internet Packet eXchange
(IPX), so that users do not have to install Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stacks on every desktop to connect to
their corporate intranets. Only one IP address (on the server) is
required. IWare Lite comes with a license for one server, which supports
an unlimited number of users.

NetWare 4.1 Runtime -- The core NetWare 4.1 operating system gives
customers a cost-effective way to implement the NetWare Web Server on a
dedicated runtime server in either a NetWare 3.x or NetWare 4.x
environment. The NetWare Runtime license is for one server and two users
(for normal file and print access over the network). The two-user Runtime
license does not restrict the number of users accessing the NetWare Web
Server on the Runtime platform.

"In short, the Novell InnerWeb Publisher converts users' networks into a
powerful platform for publishing HTML pages," said Langford. "It provides
users all the benefits of internal web publishing while preserving their
investment in hardware, software and training."

Pricing and Availability

Novell InnerWeb Publisher is available from Authorized Novell Channel
Partners for the suggested retail price of US $2,495, less than half the
cost of purchasing the components individually. Both the Novell InnerWeb
Publisher and the new version of the NetWare Web Server are scheduled to
ship in June 1996.
