NetStream Inc. Releases NETGAIN From Web Site

Corporate network users get first glimpse of important new Windows file
management utility that cuts network traffic and improves network
response

(March 31, 1996 -- Carnegie, PA) -- NetStream Inc. will release NETGAIN, a
file replication and synchronization utility for distributed network file
systems, from its Web site: http://www.netstream.com.

NETGAIN is a client file management utility targeted at corporate networks.
NETGAIN is an important advance in Windows data management that reduces
network response times, cuts network traffic, diminishes server load, and
shelters clients from network failures.

"An Internet release gives us the closest possible contact and the most
direct feedback from our customers," said Bruce DaCosta, President of
NetStream. "It's particularly appropriate because the goal of this product
is smooth communications and convenience for networked users. NETGAIN
replicates all your frequently accessed network files and applications to
your own hard drive. From then on, each time you access those files,
NETGAIN loads the replicated copy for you."

DaCosta adds "This has two immediate benefits. First, your server access
times are now as fast as your hard drive. For most people that's a big
improvement on what they experience now. That's especially true if you
access the LAN through a slower connector like a PC Card, parallel port or
wireless adapter. Second, the amount of network traffic you generate drops
way down, because nearly all your network file requests are being serviced
from the replicated copies on your own hard drive."

NETGAIN ensures that the files it replicates onto the client hard drive are
always up to date. Each time NETGAIN starts to load a replicated file, it
checks the source copy on the server. If the file there is newer, NETGAIN
automatically throws out the outdated replica and replaces it with the new
version.

NETGAIN also makes sure that if the user modifies any replicated files (for
example a word processor document) the modified version is written back to
the server, and thus the user and the network are always in sync. Says
DaCosta, "NETGAIN operates transparently. Users don't have to change the
way they work at all. Everything is handled in the background so that
users can just get their work done faster and more simply."

NETGAIN also provides benefit in the area of local disk utilization.
Replicated applications require far less disk space than their locally
installed counterparts, with savings running at an average of 75%.

NETGAIN helps to improve network reliability because it does not leave
files open across the network, as is normally the case on today's LANs. It
can also contribute to controlling the hardware expenses associated with
growing networks. By reducing network traffic, NETGAIN can add additional
capacity to existing networks at a much more cost effective rate than a
hardware based solution. "Administrators can increase the number of
clients without reconfiguring their networks or increasing traffic,"
DaCosta said.

NETGAIN requires no server side installation and supports all types of
servers including NetWare, NT, UNIX and others. NETGAIN is also network
protocol independent and supports TCP/IP, NFS, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI and
others.

Early adopters of NETGAIN report receiving substantial benefits. "My
applications launch three times faster with NETGAIN, and my network
traffic has been cut by 80%," states Mike Unruh of Cellware. "It cut my
network traffic by 83%," says Paul Mele of the Defense Logistics Agency.

NETGAIN will ship to corporate customers, distributors and resellers April,
1996, and is expected to sell at a street price of $79.95 per copy.
NETGAIN is a product of NetStream, Inc. of Carnegie, PA. Founded in 1993,
the company develops and markets Distributed File System Utilities
products targeting corporate and remote network users.
