NETPOWER FIRST TO DELIVER 4-WAY 200 MHZ WINDOWS NT/PENTIUM PRO
PROCESSOR-BASED SERVER

Sparta Server, Priced for Market Share, Breaks Price/Performance Barriers
in Mission-Critical Network Computing Applications

SUNNYVALE, CA, MAY 13, 1996 -- In a move to expand its highly successful
Pentium Pro processor product family, NeTpower today announced its first
Pentium Pro processor-based server. The Sparta server combines the power
of Intel's Pentium Pro processor, the flexibility of Microsoft's Windows
NT Server (NTS) operating system, and NeTpower's three years of high-end
Windows NT Server market expertise.

NeTpower's new four-processor Sparta server is fully compliant with all
existing Intel architecture-compatible software and enables customers to
reach new levels of speed and data access to support the most demanding
database and data warehousing, video, Internet, Intranet and communication
applications. The strength of the Sparta server is further enhanced by
NeTpower's Windows NT system management tools and world class technical
support.

"Sparta represents NeTpower's fourth generation of servers and its delivery
is timed perfectly with the explosive growth of Microsoft's Windows NT
Server and Exchange products," said Bob Miller, CEO and chairman at
NeTpower. "Our customers demand powerful, cost-effective solutions to run
heavy workloads, distributed client/server applications and intense
digital video processing on their networks and have come to expect
NeTpower's rapid delivery of these technologies. Building on a foundation
of Industry Standards, we are able to focus our innovation on
high-availability, integration and service to sustain our time- to-market
advantage," said Miller.

The Sparta series offers single, dual and quad 200MHz Pentium Pro
processors, Microsoft's Windows NT Server (NTS) operating system
pre-installed, exceptional data storage and memory capacity, multiple
redundant power supplies and on-site implementation services.

"Pentium Pro processors are designed for a new class of SHV (Standard High
Volume) servers that can be custom-configured to meet the demanding needs
of mission-critical network computing," said Ed Masi, general manager and
vice president of Intel's Server System Product Division. "NeTpower's
Sparta Pentium Pro processor-based server running Windows NT provides
their customers power and scalability highly competitive to the fastest
quad-processor RISC/UNIX servers."

NeTpower has established close working relationships with key ISVs in four
target markets -- database and data warehousing, digital video, Internet
and communications -- to ensure software compatibility and integration.
These companies include industry leaders such as Computer Associates,
Microsoft, Oracle and Red Brick Systems.

"NeTpower's announcement of the Sparta server represents a major milestone
in the on-going success of Microsoft's Windows NT Server," said Jim
Allchin, senior vice president, Desktop and Business Systems, Microsoft.
"Windows NT Server continues to be adopted by companies targeting
applications that demand high-performance, low cost and open alternatives
to RISC/UNIX servers. Sparta server products built on Intel's Pentium Pro
processor offer customers just what they are looking for today, coupled
with exciting new options as they expand their networks."

Pricing and Availability

NeTpower's Sparta scales up to four 200MHz Pentium Pro processors with one
Gbyte of ECC memory, twelve hot-swap drive bays, six dedicated PCI
(Peripheral Component Interconnect) slots based on two PCI buses, four
EISA bus slots, factory installed Windows NT Server operating system and a
three-year on-site, next business day standard warranty.

Priced at under $14,500 for a base configuration of one 200MHz Pentium Pro
processor with 64MB of ECC RAM and a one Gbyte hard drive, Sparta provides
an affordable entry price point. A more robust configuration featuring two
200MHz Pentium Pro processors, 128MB ECC RAM, eight Gbytes of hard disk
and an internal RAID controller, has a list price of less than $26,700.

The 200MHz Sparta server will be available for delivery in mid June and
NeTpower is quoting four week availability after receipt of order.

Service and Support

The Sparta server features 90 days free Windows NT Server support, optional
high-end premier support packages, focused training for customers
migrating to Windows NT, and on-site consulting services for both Windows
NT and non-Windows NT environments. NeTpower's support package is further
enhanced by a standard three-year factory warranty and free telephone
support from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Pacific
Standard Time.
