NETMANAGE ADDS SPEED OF THE POWERPC TO POPULAR DEVELOPMENT TOOL

Upgrade of WinSock SDK for Mac OS Enables Simple Cross-Development of
Windows and PowerPC Networking Applications

SAN JOSE, CALIF. (WWDC '96) -- MAY 13, 1996 -- NetManage, Inc., the leader
in standards-based IntraNet solutions, today released WinSock SDK 3.5 for
Mac OS, an upgrade which adds PowerPC-native WinSock library support to
the company's cross-platform networking development tool. By incorporating
PowerPC capability into the development kit, NetManage meets the demand of
its current WinSock SDK users who consider the PowerPC's superior
processing speed a key aspect of Mac OS development. The SDK is the
industry's only commercially available WinSock API for Mac OS developers.

WinSock SDK for Mac OS enables cross-platform programming between the Mac
OS and Windows, Windows 95 and Windows NT. Corporate developers can now
easily create custom client/server and IntraNet applications for Mac OS
and Windows platforms using a single network Application Programming
Interface (API). For developers programming networking applications first
for Windows, porting the networking functionality into a PowerPC Mac OS
version is now a simple step.

"Being able to cross-develop for the Mac platform allows us to make the
most of our Windows networking investment," says Denise Shi, head of
Macintosh Development at Index Stock Photography, Inc. "With NetManage's
WinSock SDK we were able to port the network component of our application
to the PowerPC version platform in only one day."

The new SDK also offers a Code Fragment Manager (CFM) shared library for
the PowerPC, which will allow developers to update WinSock libraries
without recompiling their application code, saving many hours of work.
Shared libraries will also enable multiple applications to share the same
library of commands simultaneously, reducing the size of networking
applications.

"NetManage is fully committed to bringing standards-based solutions to the
Mac OS," says Willie Tejada, vice president of product marketing at
NetManage. "Most corporate networks today include several different
operating systems. Because our solutions are standards based, all of our
IntraNet products provide complete cross-platform solutions."

In addition to creating a simple solution for porting Windows networking
functionality to Mac OS applications, the WinSock SDK for Mac OS also
provides developers a single API to write for both the current and
previous Mac OS TCP/IP networking protocols, OpenTransport and MacTCP",
respectively.

"Applications ported from Windows to Mac OS using this SDK are
automatically Open Transport ready, plus gain support for classic MacTCP,"
says Garry Hornbuckle, Apple Computer's product line manager for Mac OS
communications and collaboration products. "Together, Apple's Open
Transport and the WinSock SDK from NetManage provide Macintosh developers
with the best of both UNIX and Windows network APIs on the Mac OS
platform."

The enhancement to WinSock SDK for Mac OS augments NetManage's strong Mac
OS product family, which includes powerful host connectivity, file
transfer, and IntraNet access tools in Chameleon for Mac OS with PacerTerm
3.5, as well as the acclaimed X Window server, XoftWare for Mac OS 3.5.
These WinSock-based Mac OS products mirror the feature-rich functionality
of the company's award-winning Windows desktop applications, providing
corporations with a single desktop solution for Mac OS, Windows, Windows
95 and Windows NT.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

WinSock SDK for Macintosh 3.5 is priced at US $250.00 per single copy and
