NETMANAGE SHIPS SWIFT 2.0, THE INDUSTRY'S ONE-STOP INTRANET HOST ACCESS
SOLUTION

Corporations Can Now Access All Hosts across All Network Protocols with One
Package

CUPERTINO, CALIF. -- MAY 28, 1996 -- NetManage, Inc., the leading provider
of standards-based IntraNet solutions, began shipping Swift 2.0 and Swift
IntraNet Package 2.0 today, the industry's most comprehensive host access
solutions. Swift provides company-wide host access services over multiple
protocols for all three major Windows platforms. Cost-effective, easy to
use and incomparably versatile, Swift provides a single solution for
companies to access their mainframe, midrange, VAX and UNIX systems across
any combination of network protocols.

Swift 2.0 is based on the host access components of NetManage's
award-winning Chameleon IntraNet Desktop suite, already installed in more
than 1 million seats, with the addition of SNA networking support. The
single CD-ROM package provides Swift versions for Windows 3.1, Windows 95
and Windows NT, supporting access to IBM mainframes, AS/400 and VMS/UNIX
hosts over TCP/IP, SNA, and Asynchronous connections. It includes reliable
host emulation services, NetManage's popular WebSurfer HTML browser,
industry standard SMTP e-mail, and the widely adopted NS/Router client
software, all in a simple-to-install, one-size-fits-all package. Swift
eliminates the need for multiple and diverse products for host
connectivity.

"Prior to acquiring Swift, we needed numerous applications from various
vendors to support our system's range of hosts, printers and network
protocols," said Travis Cox, an IT engineer at Louisville Gas and
Electric, whose company is using a pre-release version of Swift 2.0.
"Swift provides our company with a cost-effective, single interface
solution for all these needs. We spend much less time teaching people
software and calling different companies for support, and spend the time
instead actually getting work done."

TECHNICAL DETAILS

The Swift tools allow companies to access their hosts both via proprietary
IBM network protocols (SNA and APPC), as well as through TCP/IP
connections to mainframes and AS/400s. The new package features TN3270E,
the emerging standard for SNA display and printer functionality over
TCP/IP, and IBM AnyNet support in the included NetSoft NS/Router for
connecting PCs to AS/400s via TCP/IP.

Swift also provides a consistent interface to UNIX-standard SMTP and POP
mail services and IBM PROFS or OfficeVision/VM mail and calendar services.
Swift makes it possible for PROFS and OfficeVision/VM users to correspond,
schedule meetings and communicate transparently with SMTP and POP mail
users.

Furthermore, with the inclusion of WebSurfer, users can now access their
host applications from a convenient Web interface by running Swift in
conjunction with a 3270- or 5250-to-HTML gateway. Both Salvo from Simware
(3270-to-HTML) and Webulator from I/NET Inc. (5250-to-HTML) can be used
with Swift, while those who want graphical front ends to host applications
without the Web can choose the GUI technology from Seagull Software
Systems, Inc.

The Swift IntraNet Package, in addition to containing all the components of
the core Swift product, also contains a comprehensive set of tools for
constructing a corporate IntraNet. The additional client/server
applications in Swift IntraNet Package include an NFS Client and Server,
FTP, LPR/LPD Client and Server, as well as Gopher, IRC, NewtNews, Archie
Client, Talk, and WhoIs.

PRODUCT NAME CHANGE

NetManage is also announcing the intention to change the name Swift and
Swift IntraNet Package to IntraNet HostLink and IntraNet HostLink Plus in
subsequent releases, respectively. NetManage has chosen to rename the
product in order to position it more clearly as part of the company's core
IntraNet philosophy.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

Swift 2.0 is currently shipping and is priced at US $199.00 per single
copy. The Swift IntraNet Package is available in a minimum quantity
purchase of twenty copies at US $420 per copy. Competitive upgrades are
available.
