NETMANAGE RELEASES XOFTWARE 5.0, BEST OF BREED INTRANET AND INTERNET
CONNECTIVITY SOLUTIONS FOR WINDOWS BASED PC'S

NetManage sets new standards for value and functionality and lays
groundwork for 'Broadway' Internet X standard

SAN JOSE, CALIF. (INTERNET WORLD, BOOTH #719) - APRIL 29, 1996 - NetManage
(NASDAQ: NETM), the leading provider of standards-based IntraNet
solutions, announced the release today of XoftWare 5.0, a complete
solution for corporate IntraNet and Internet users that require PC to
Enterprise and PC to Web connectivity. XoftWare 5.0, which provides
Microsoft Windows users with a graphical interface for applications
running on a networked UNIX system (X Windows), is NetManage's first major
release of XoftWare since acquiring it as part of the company's merger
with AGE six months ago. The strategic merger has made NetManage the
largest supplier of X Windows technology in the world. The numerous
enhancements to the latest version -- including improved performance,
interface, security, remote access, network administration, bandwidth
optimization, and a complete suite of host, IntraNet and Internet
connectivity tools - demonstrate NetManage's commitment to maintaining
XoftWare's position as the leading X Window technology for enterprise-wide
and Internet connectivity solutions.

The 32-bit PC X server software that is an integral part of XoftWare 5.0 is
the only Microsoft Windows 95 Certified X server available today. XoftWare
5.0 for Windows 95 offers full support for 32-bit platform specific
functions such as long file names, Windows NT and Windows 95 registry
support and uninstall. XoftWare for Windows is also available for the
Windows NT PowerPC platform. As a separate package, the company has
released XoftWare 5.0 for Windows 3.1. Both packages are unparalleled in
terms of ease of use, performance, stability, features and value.

The inclusion of a complete set of IntraNet and Internet connectivity
tools, plus enhanced low bandwidth X functionality via XoftWare's Serial
ConneXion feature in the XoftWare 5.0 release is a preview of what is to
come in future releases of the product, which will incorporate the X
Consortium's Broadway standard. Broadway will fully integrate X server
technology with low-bandwidth Internet functionality and embed X clients
inside Web browser software.

"The explosion of the IntraNet has solidified UNIX and X as a
business-critical computing platform," said Willie Tejada, vice president
of product marketing for NetManage. "We view XoftWare as a perfect fit
with our company's comprehensive IntraNet philosophy. XoftWare is an
enterprise tool that networks PCs to UNIX using the same TCP/IP protocol
that powers the Internet, which has always been NetManage's expertise. We
are excited to be working with the X Consortium to help develop the
Broadway standard, and our enthusiasm for this product clearly shows in
its current release, in terms of both the new IntraNet components we have
added and our improvements to its core X Windows technology."

XoftWare 5.0 establishes a new price/performance ratio benchmark for the X
Windows industry by offering the best-of-breed technology at the lowest
price. The new release has fully incorporated the standards of the Windows
95 paradigm, including the "look and feel" of the Windows 95 user
interface, support for an international keyboard, and a one-click
installation utility which automates the setup of all the package's
components. XoftWare 5.0 implements the X Consortium's latest version of
the X Windows system, X11R6, to run on Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows
NT, for Intel's 386, 486 and Pentium processors as well as Motorola's 601,
603 and 604 PowerPC RISC architecture chips. (NetManage also produces
another version of XoftWare for the Mac OS.)
