NETMANAGE'S CLIENT SOFTWARE TO BE USED BY HEWLETT-PACKARD'S BROADBAND
INTERNET DELIVERY SYSTEM

NetManage Client Services Software to Provide Applications Access to the
Internet Through HP Systems

SAN JOSE, CALIF. (INTERNET WORLD, BOOTH #719) - APRIL 29, 1996 - NetManage,
Inc., the leading provider of standards-based IntraNet solutions,
announced today that Hewlett-Packard Company will offer the NetManage
Client Services (NMCS) software package as part of the HP Broadband
Internet Delivery System. The partnership provides subscribers access to
the Internet through a high performance HP end-to-end delivery system that
supports Internet industry standards. The NetManage NMCS software provides
a rich array of application options and capabilities including the ability
for other application vendors to easily link their applications into the
system.

The agreement gives the end-to-end, high-speed HP solution an easy-to-use
interface for PC users as they access the Internet and interactive
services through their cable or telephone company. NMCS also provides open
APIs to allow third-party applications to easily integrate with the HP
Broadband Internet Delivery System. Such software applications may include
email, on-line services, telephony applications, Web browsers and many
others.

"The HP-NetManage relationship offers important benefits to home PC
subscribers as well as their service providers," said Dan Reis, director
of OEM programs for NetManage. "Users will benefit from the familiar
look-and-feel and intuitive menu-driven interface. Service providers will
be able to offer more robust Internet access with HP's broadband system
that leverages NetManage's open APIs to add significant functionality and
flexibility."

"We feel our relationship with NetManage demonstrates our commitment to
make the HP Broadband Internet Delivery System an open solution,"
commented Gail Hamilton, general manager of HP's Telecom Platform
Division. "NMCS will allow HP's wealth of ISV partners to integrate
important applications with the HP broadband solution and the NMCS
interface will make Internet access an easy process for users."

The complete end-to-end HP solution is unlike any currently available. HP
offers unsurpassed content- and network-management capability,
performance, security and industry standards compliance. In addition, the
HP Broadband Internet Delivery Solution is compatible with virtually all
Internet access technologies, including hybrid fiber-coax (HFC), FTTC and
wireless.

NMCS is an interface application based on MS Windows that allows users to
easily navigate through all on-line selections available to them. As part
of the NMCS, APIs have been built into the system that allow easy access
to applications from vendors that provide additional functionality.

The HP Broadband Internet Delivery System offers other features that make
it ideal for cable operators and telephone companies that want to provide
broadband services to their customers. Its ultra high-speed performance
exceeds any delivery platform currently available, including T1 lines.
Such performance is critical as users access graphics, video and
multimedia applications over the Internet. Such applications require many
times the bandwidth of basic data and voice. The HP solution offers
service providers massive scaleability. A single HP system can serve more
than 100,000 users.
