MGI Software Previews PhotoSuite for IBM's Next Version of OS/2 Warp

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - MGI Software Corp., a leading provider of digital
imaging and video editing software, demonstrated a beta version of its
popular PhotoSuite digital imaging and multimedia file catalog application
for Merlin, the code name for IBM's next version of OS/2 Warp. The sneak
preview took place at IBM's annual Technical Interchange Conference for
IBM developers, business partners and software vendors being held this
week in Nashville, Tennessee.

MGI PhotoSuite offers beginners and experienced users a premier set of
visual tools to capture, display, convert, edit, print and catalog, image,
video and sound clips in almost any digital file format whether residing
on a hard drive, a network file server or CD-ROM. PhotoSuite is an ideal
multimedia companion for Internet, AOL, CompuServe, MSN and Prodigy users,
allowing multimedia content residing on remote servers to be easily
captured and incorporated into their word processors, spreadsheets,
publishing and other graphics applications. PhotoSuite also simplifies the
process of creating graphics for Web sites with its support for interlaced
and transparent GIF files. MGI PhotoSuite incorporates the latest advances
in imaging technology, including support for scanners, digital cameras,
and Kodak Photo CD.

Originally developed as a 32-bit application for Windows 95 and Windows NT,
MGI's new PhotoSuite for OS/2 Warp, is one of the first mainstream
multimedia applications to be converted from the Microsoft platforms using
IBM's new Developer API tool set. "We are very impressed with the little
time it took to undertake the conversion while maintaining the same basic
features we have in our Win32 version," said Anthony DeCristofaro, MGI CEO
and president. "The Developer API extensions will reduce our time to
market by more than 50 percent and put us in step with the IBM's new
release. Our PhotoSuite is perfect for OS/2 Warp users who want to
painlessly access, manage and share their digital images and multimedia
files over local and wide area networks, including the Internet."

"With a simple port of PhotoSuite to the OS/2 platform using IBM's
Developer API Extensions, MGI has added a potential 13 million customers
to its base," said Wally Casey, Vice President of Client Product
Management for IBM Personal Software Products. "MGI PhotoSuite will
provide excellent support for OS/2 users who need photographs, video and
sound in their presentations, publications, advertisements and web pages,
especially the many 'connected' customers that will be working on a LAN or
the Internet."
