Magic Software Enterprises Announces Magic Version 7

Award-Winning Development Tool Now Offers Windows 95, NT and Internet
Version With Major Focus on Reusability, Multi-User Applications and OLE
2.0

IRVINE, CA, May 20, 1996 - Magic Software Enterprises (NASDAQ: MGICF),
today announced the release of Version 7 of the Magic Rapid Application
Development system. This 32-bit release for Windows 95, Windows NT and the
Internet brings a new emphasis on component reusability, along with
support for OLE 2.0. This release also includes improved graphical user
interface functions and significant performance enhancements for the Magic
client and server architecture.

"This signifies an important quantum leap in offering very rapid
development across Windows 95, NT and the Internet," said Uzi Yair, CEO of
Magic Software Enterprises Inc. "As the Internet becomes more important as
an application platform, it is critical that we provide tools that can
enable Internet-based applications. This version's built-in WebLink
utility significantly strengthens our offerings for developers looking to
create Internet applications."

Component Reusability for Even More Productivity

Magic Version 7 now offers the ability to reuse form templates. This
powerful capability allows developers to save time and increase their
productivity by saving and reusing all forms as Magic Form Templates
(MFTs). These templates are either integrated in any Magic Version 7
application as a new form or loaded into an edited form. Rapid feedback
and immediate access to Magic tables and application modules enables
developers to identify key business processes and core functions for the
development of reusable modules. Magic also provides reusable developer
and end-user functions, such as the application program generator and
query-by-example end-user tools.

"The support for reusable components completes Magic's productivity
triangle. The table-driven methodology, and engine-based technology are
now combined with component reusability, offering developers huge
productivity gains that far surpass other tools," said Jeffrey Starr, Vice
President of Worldwide Marketing for Magic Software Enterprises Inc.

Multilingual Applications for Multinational Organizations

Version 7 also includes enhanced support for the development of
multilingual applications. With this functionality, developers only need
to build one user interface for all supported languages. During
deployment, the form's displayed text is converted to the desired language
through the use of external language conversion files which contain the
translated text. As the conversion files are external, changes to the
underlying program logic will not effect the translations. Version 7 will
offer the ability to designate backup servers and time-out parameters,
further strengthening Magic's ability to develop applications for the
enterprise. Developers will now be able to protect against server downtime
by automatically shifting the processing of applications to an alternative
server. Developers are also able to release the communications link
between the client and server by setting an "inactivity timer."

"Magic Version 7 has incorporated features that bring dramatic productivity
gains for our developers," said Tom Mitchell, IS Manager for Union
Electric Corporation, beta user of Version 7. "The reusability
capabilities combined with OLE support and new GUI controls such as the
combo box have enabled us to develop a robust, high-performance
application which greatly enhances our competitive edge."

Enhanced Graphical User Interface

Magic Version 7 will support OLE 2.0, both Linking and Embedding. OLE
Linking will allow for the linking between Magic and another object in the
same operating system. OLE Embedding also forms a link between Magic and
an external object. New BLOBs (Binary Large Objects) have been added to
the Magic data types to handle the storage of objects. OLE classes will
define the contents of BLOBs, such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets,
or other objects.

New Form Editor Functions

Improvements have been made in the form editor of Magic Version 7 to
provide for even more rapid application development. New functions include
a new variable palette, enhanced table and control editing, automatic
scrolling, new control management and multiplatform features, plus
improved Windows sizing. Additional new features include tab, combo box,
list, and OLE controls, as well as end user created tool-bar and
configuration. In addition, an undo-redo function has been added in the
form editor which allows developers to cancel or restore previous
conditions.

"Magic has correctly anticipated the strong demand for heightened
reusability. They also now better serve their unique base of multi-user
organization's with the multi-user capability, that will prove to be
highly valuable for both IS departments and all types of VAR's," said
Mitch Kramer, consulting editor for the Patricia Seybold Group. "With the
Internet becoming a more important platform, Version 7 will also be an
important product to develop commercial applications for the Internet."

Additional Features

Magic Version 7 also contains enhanced graphical printing functions. Table
Controls can now be added to an I/O Form. The Table Property includes a
Fix Size Table option and a "Title On Every Page Option". Magic also
exploits the advanced technology features in Windows 95 and Windows NT.
Users can also run multi-instances of Magic at the same time and on the
same workstation. Magic now has the ability to connect to the same
database and to run the same application from multiple instances of
Magic.
