LOGIC WORKS LAUNCHES DATA WAREHOUSING CORNERSTONE INITIATIVE

Integrated and open strategy combines technology, services, partnerships
and hands-on experience - enabling customers to build highly-effective
data warehouses that are properly aligned with business requirements.

PRINCETON, NJ, MAY 14, 1996 - Logic Works, a leading provider of data
modeling and business process reengineering software solutions, today
announced the Logic Works Data Warehousing Cornerstone Initiative, an
innovative consulting and services program designed to enable customers to
build highly-effective, business-critical data warehouses "from the ground
up."

Logic Works' Data Warehousing Cornerstone Initiative incorporates a blend
of products, education, consulting, services and partnerships with a dozen
of the industry's leading data warehousing vendors. As a result, Logic
Works is well positioned to assist customers with data warehousing - from
initial planning and design through implementation.

Commenting on the program, Logic Works' Director of Data Warehousing
Product Marketing Management, Dean F. Boyer, said, "This initiative is
designed to facilitate the construction of highly-effective data
warehouses those that enable users to explore and discover business ideas
and opportunities. Just as a cornerstone enables a mason to build a
properly-aligned structure, Logic Works' Data Warehousing Cornerstone
Initiative is designed to empower customers to architect data warehouses
that are both effective and properly aligned with business requirements."

According to Boyer, Logic Works developed the Cornerstone Initiative to
formalize its commitment to providing the products, services, education
and consulting that enable effective data warehouse development. "We've
recognized the need for a comprehensive data warehouse solution, " noted
Boyer. "Because requirements vary between organizations, and no single
vendor can provide the comprehensive technology solution, we have
partnered with the industry's leading data warehouse vendors and developed
a suite of complementary offerings."

"A data warehouse is not enough," noted John Zachman, President of Zachman
International. "These are new times. The Enterprise must migrate to an
architected environment to accommodate intense, incessant, relentless
change. Build models. Store models. Enforce models. Change models. Data
warehousing is a great start...not an end. Logic Works technology is
integral to the modeling process."

A CUSTOMIZED WAREHOUSE FRAMEWORK

By leveraging its extensive data model management experience, Logic Works
has developed a comprehensive data warehousing consulting practice and
expanded its existing product line to support data warehouse model
management. Logic Works products included in the Cornerstone Initiative
include:

BPwin - Business process modeling tool. Enables legacy data
source inventorying; data warehouse process modeling.

ERwin - Database data modeling tool. Enables legacy data
source modeling; meta data management; dimensional modeling.

Logic Works ModelMart - Workgroup model management environment.
Enables meta data management; model management.

Future Logic Works data warehousing products will focus on improving the
management of meta data - from both internal and external sources.

DATA WAREHOUSING ROAD MAP

To help the data warehousing team evaluate available technologies at
critical decision points, Logic Works will offer the Data Warehousing Road
Map. The Road Map, a CD-ROM product, will guides users through the
ever-changing maze of technologies and processes that exist in the data
warehousing industry.

The Logic Works Data Warehousing Road Map will define the available
roadways, crossroads, milestones and modes of transportation as they
correspond to the data warehousing development process. And, just as a map
depicts numerous alternatives to reach a destination, the Road Map will
provide an open perspective to available technologies. Because the
Cornerstone Initiative does not pre-suppose a particular toolset or
technology platform, it acknowledges the multiple categories of tools and
technologies, and lays the groundwork for smooth integration between and
among these categories.

In order to facilitate the necessary integration between the various tools
and technologies available for data warehouse development, Logic Works has
forged strategic partnerships with leading data warehouse tool and
technology vendors.

CONSULTING AND EDUCATION

Technology alone is not enough to ensure the success of a data warehouse
project, and so Logic Works provides a suite of education and consulting
services. Education offerings are designed to provide a fundamental
understanding of the concepts and principles behind data warehousing,
including virtual vs. physical data warehouses, decision support, meta
data, dimensional modeling, and data warehouse construction techniques
such as Star Schema Modeling.

Consulting services offered as part of Logic Works Data Warehousing
Cornerstone Initiative enforce the concepts presented in the educational
offerings and implemented by the technology. Logic Works consulting
focuses on the planning, modeling and managing of meta data, with emphasis
on dimensional modeling and data warehouse project mentoring. As an
extension to the consulting, Logic Works also provides services including
the following:

  Data Warehousing Evolutionary Planning
