LIVINGSTON EQUIPS ISDN PRODUCTS FOR EUROPEAN USE

LONDON, May 20, 1996 -- Livingston Enterprises has equipped its family of
Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) products for use outside North
America with the addition of an S/T interface to its branch-office ISDN
router and its central-site ISDN dial in communications servers. The
products have been certified for use in Europe and other countries that
have adopted the European switch standards.

S/T interface capability will be available beginning this month on the
PortMaster ISDN Office Router, which offers a single ISDN Basic Rate
Interface (BRI) port for connectivity from small office LANs to corporate
headquarters or the Internet; and on the five-port ISDN BRI module which
operates in the central-site PortMaster ISDN Communications Servers. The
cost-effective Livingston ISDN products allow users to take advantage of
high-speed ISDN connections for a price lower than that of V.34-based
analog modem solutions.

S/T is the standard ISDN interface provided by telephone carriers in most
areas outside North America. Unlike the U interface commonly used within
North America, S/T provides a "passive bus" or multi-device capability
which allows up to eight devices -- any mix of voice, data and fax devices
-- to share access to a single ISDN line.

U-interface versions of the Livingston ISDN products, with fully integrated
NT1 network termination, have been shipping to the North American market
since December 1995.

Bruce Byrd, Livingston director of marketing, said, "We are seeing
increasing global demand for ISDN from Internet Service Providers and
small businesses. The S/T interface will make it practical for our growing
number of international customers to take advantage of ISDN's speed and
flexibility using highly cost-effective Livingston products."

The PortMaster ISDN Office Router provides one ISDN BRI port, one Ethernet
port and one 115.2-Kbps asynchronous port which supports dial backup or
accommodates dial-in users without the need for a separate communications
server. PortMaster Communications Servers have 10 asynchronous ports and
an optional synchronous T1/E1 port, and can accept one or two five-port
ISDN BRI modules; units equipped with two modules can support up to 20
64-Kbps ISDN B-channels. Both products support Multilink Point-to-Point
Protocol (MP, RFC 1717), which permits the combining of multiple ISDN
B-channels to address high-bandwidth requirements. Both also support
access security using the Livingston-invented Remote Authentication Dial
In User Service (RADIUS), as well as the ChoiceNet centralized filtering
technology, which enables schools, parents and companies to exercise
control over Internet access.

Livingston ISDN products were the first to utilize AT&T's T7903 ISA- MWAC
(Multiport Wide-Area Connection) ISDN chip, which broke new ground by
incorporating complete ISDN functionality on a single integrated circuit.

Pricing/Availability

Available in June, the PortMaster ISDN Office Router (S/T version) is
priced at US$1,195, the five-port ISDN BRI module (S/T version) for the
PortMaster ISDN Communications Servers at US$1,995. The products are
homologated for use with ISDN service in Europe and South America.
