LEXINGTON, KY., MAY 13, 1996 . . . Lexmark International Inc. (NYSE:LXK)
Monday announced the Optra Ep, the newest member of the award-winning
Optra laser printer line.

The Optra Ep is a true 600 x 600 dot-per-inch (dpi), 6 page-per-minute
(ppm) personal desktop laser printer. With the addition of PostScript
Level 2 emulation support, Optra Ep offers a new price point for
PostScript printing and features that meet the demanding needs of users in
education, government and business who want a convenient, compact,
high-quality PostScript-compatible laser printer. At a street price of
only $749, Optra Ep delivers all the features typically included in
printers costing hundreds of dollars more.

OPTRA EP PERFORMANCE FEATURES

Business-class 6 ppm performance in a PostScript-compatible personal laser
printer.

Maximum print power and throughput made possible by 16 MHz RISC processor
and 2 MB of memory with Lexmark's revolutionary RAMSmart advanced memory
management. RAMSmart enables Optra Ep, with its standard 2 MB of memory,
to print complex jobs which would typically require 4 MB.

FLEXIBLE PAPER HANDLING

Prints on a wide range of paper sizes and stocks including letter size,
legal size, transparencies, envelopes, index cards and labels.

Comes with a standard 150-sheet paper input drawer; an optional 250-sheet
second drawer is also available.

COMPACT, RUGGED DESIGN

Space-saving design provides high-quality business-class PostScript
printing in a smaller package than any other comparable laser printer.

Engineered and tested to print a business-class workload of 10,000 pages
per month.

High-yield toner cartridge delivers 3,000 printed pages, based on 5 percent
coverage.

OUTSTANDING PRINT QUALITY

True 600 x 600 dpi delivers the sharp graphics and image printing typical
of laser printers costing significantly more.

"With the addition of PostScript support to our value-leading Optra E
personal laser printer, Lexmark once again satisfies a market need that
has previously gone unfulfilled," said Allen Westerfield, Lexmark's
director of product marketing, Network Printer Division. "At this price
and with this full set of features, the Optra Ep delivers the best value
for even the most budget-conscious user."

The Lexmark Optra Ep will be available June 3, 1996 from Lexmark Authorized
Resellers. The printer carries a U.S. suggested list price of $949.
