Knowledge Revolution Announces Working Model 3D

Award-Winning Engineering Software Now Offers 3D Version For Motion
Simulation On Desktop

Industrial-Strength Virtual Prototyping For Windows

MAY 7, 1996--SAN MATEO, CA--Knowledge Revolution, the pacesetting developer
of engineering software solutions, has introduced the 3D version of its
award-winning Working Model software product. Working Model 3D will begin
shipping in May. This industrial-strength virtual prototyping tool changes
the way engineers design and develop mechanical systems.

Working Model 3D utilizes all of the convenience features found in the
popular Working Model 2D product, such as a point-and-click Windows-based
user interface, seamless CAD integration and rapid simulation. Now
Knowledge Revolution extends its desktop engineering to include both
planar and spatial elements.

Based on an intuitive, natural real-world paradigm, Working Model 3D is
ready to use, right out of the box without special training. The Windows
environment makes it easy to explore numerous designs, build parts within
Working Model 3D or import them from your CAD system. Users create an
entire model graphically, without specifying any values or equations. By
just adding constraints and clicking "Run", the model comes to life as a
functional virtual prototype.

The first three-dimensional CAE tool that intuitively merges modeling,
simulation and analysis, Working Model 3D allows first-time users and CAE
professionals alike to view and manipulate objects quickly and naturally.
Not only can users model, simulate and measure items such as gyroscopes or
watts governors in less than 15 minutes, they can also modify parameters,
analyze results and improve performance just as rapidly.

Knowledge Revolution's Dynamic Motion Engine provides the key to Working
Model 3D's efficient, time-saving operation. This three-dimensional,
object-oriented dynamics engine creates a better alternative to complex
rigid body simulation. Offering a complete array of 3D joints and
constraints, from motors and actuators to springs, rods, ropes and more,
the program enables users to model all types of complex 3D mechanisms.

Working Model 3D also includes automatic collision detection and response,
a unique feature in which solids interact, slide and collide. With this
special function, the user can model boxes moving over rollers, wheels,
conveyors, chains or any other device that involves contacting parts. The
result is true simulation of real motion, a new advancement for optimizing
design and validating performance before actual building.

Knowledge Revolution has quickly gained a reputation as the leader in
motion simulation software. An installed base of more than 10,000 users
and numerous industry awards attest to the company's expertise in
developing products that are technologically superior and easy to use. The
family of Working Model products address a wide variety of engineering
applications, from the design of surgical equipment and space shuttle
parts to motorcycle suspensions systems, helicopter testing, circuit
breakers and automobile engines, to name just a few. With Working Model
3D, engineers now have an affordable device that can take a virtual
prototype through every phase of development, including conceptual,
product design, analysis, testing and trouble shooting, even pushing the
design to the point of destruction. Its ease of use makes Working Model 3D
a front-end design tool that virtually any designer can master.
