INFORONICS LAUNCHES SUBSCRIPTION JOURNAL ON THE WORLD-WIDE WEB

Littleton, MA -- Scientific publishing took another step towards Internet
commerce today with the launch of MCA on the WEB, a subscription journal
providing information in the field of meteorology.

In addition to providing browsable information on the newest development in
meteorology, this Web journal also offers retrospective searching methods
of all issues since 1974, as well as offering electronic methods of
communicating with the editors, other subscribers, and the journal's
fulfullment services.

MGA on the Web is the newest edition of Meteorological and Geoastrophysical
Abstracts. Inforonics' browsing and searching technology contains two
access methods: Boolean searching and hierarchical browsing, and two
search modes: Concise and Expert. Subscribers can search using 17 indexes
created from author, title, bibliographic, subject index, UDC code, and
abstract text fields. Once a desired abstract is found, subject headings
provide hot-links to all other abstracts in that subject area.

MGA on the Web's News area posts selected news items submitted by
subscribers, including press releases, new book announcements, and other
relevant site news from commercial publishers, universities, government
organizations, and individual researchers and consultants. MGA on the Web
also provides comment forms so that MGA subscribers may communicate with
the editors, place orders, request back issues, etc. Comments of interest
to all subscribers will be posted on the site as well.

Like its print version, MGA on the World-Wide Web is updated monthly with
9,000 articles per year. Like its CD-ROM version, MGA on the Web contains
a twenty-two year backfire of over 180,000 abstracts.

MGA provides world-wide coverage of available literature, including English
translations of twenty-seven languages, including Russian, German, French,
Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Swedish, Danish, Polish. and Finnish. MGA
covers over 400 literature sources from journal articles, conference
proceedings, books, technical reports, monographs, series, and annuals,
including so-called "grey" literature.

The American Meteorological Society has chosen Inforonics, Inc. to launch
MGA on the Net. Inforonics provides a unique combination of database
technology and Internet expertise to deliver MGA to an interactive,
world-wide subscriber audience. MGA on the Web is supported by Inforonics'
multiple Internet connections for high server reliability. A demo site,
containing 15,000 abstracts from 1983 and 1993, is now available at
http://www.mganet.org for users to try the product and provide their
comments.

Meteorological and Geoastrophysical Abstracts, known by its abbreviation
MGA, is the only abstract journal devoted exclusively to covering the
world's literature on meteorology, climatology, atmospheric chemistry and
physics, physical oceanography, hydrology, glaciology, and related
environmental sciences.
