IN FOCUS SYSTEMS SHARPENS IMAGE DISPLAY OF THE LIGHTEST AND BRIGHTEST
POLYSILICON PROJECTOR AVAILABLE - LITEPRO 580

WILSONVILLE, ORE. -- April 29, 1996 -- In Focus Systems today announced
that its award-winning, best-selling multimedia projector, the LitePro
580, has been improved. Without raising its price, this popular projector
has been enhanced by increasing the brightness to 350 lumens and improving
resolution to support 800 X 600, making it the brightest and lightest
multimedia projector available. Since its introduction, the LitePro 580
has captured numerous awards and recognition because of its vivid image
display and portable size, including earning the 1995 Hyper Award from New
Media Magazine for Best LCD projector and being named as a 1995 MacUser
Eddy Award finalist.

Increasing the brightness of the projector to 350 ANSI lumens is a critical
advantage which enables speakers to make presentations in well-lit rooms,
and allows them to maintain eye contact with the audience and the audience
to easily take notes.

"We listened to our customers' needs for a bright, portable, easy-to-use
projector and applied our expertise to improve upon what is already an
extremely popular projector in the market," said Mark Reed, vice president
of sales, marketing and service for In Focus Systems. "With these
improvements, the LitePro 580 delivers bright, crisp color computer
graphics and multimedia, in the smallest form factor available."

The LitePro Series technology from In Focus Systems integrates a powerful
light source, LCD, and optics into one portable unit to project
computer-generated graphics and animation, video and audio in
presentations, training sessions, interactive collaborative meetings, and
software demonstrations.

The brightness in the LitePro 580 projector was increased by integrating
more transmissive polysilicon active-matrix LCDs and a more efficient
150-watt metal halide lamp, as well as by refining the projector's optic
path. With a peak performance of 350 ANSI lumens, the new LitePro 580
projector has uniform brightness from the center of the image to the
corners, ensuring that "hotspots" do not appear in the middle of the
image.

ANSI lumens, the standard for gauging projector brightness, are measured by
dividing a square meter image into nine equal rectangles, and taking a
brightness reading at the center of each rectangle. Taking the average of
these nine points gives the ANSI lumens rating of the projector. In
contrast, a lux measurement of brightness is taken from only one point on
the screen.

The new LitePro 580 projects images up to 800 X 600 resolution, including
SVGA, through an advanced image compression technology and is compatible
with most PC and Macintosh computers. With a palette of 16.7 million
colors, the new LitePro 580 projects realistic photographic-quality images
to small or large audiences alike.

With two integrated stereo speakers and audio output, the LitePro 580 is a
complete, self-contained system for multimedia presentations. VCRs or
laser disk players can be plugged directly into the new LitePro 580 to
display full-motion video at a 25-millisecond response time. The LitePro
580 also supports domestic and international video signals, including NTSC
and full PAL/SECAM, with no loss of image area.

Friendly, Easy-To-Use Design An enhanced, handheld infrared "Smart Remote"
and intuitive user interface makes it easy to control the LitePro 580
without interrupting a presentation. The size of a typical television
remote, the Smart Remote features large backlit buttons and a built-in
trackball for controlling a PC or Macintosh computer from up to 35 feet
away. Easy-to-see indicator lights near the power switch verify the
operational status of the new LitePro 580.

A uniform color scheme unites the LitePro 580 with In Focus Systems' new
family of products to make user interaction quick and easy. Its
high-quality zoom lens, used for image placement flexibility and crisp
corner-to-corner focus, is adjusted with a new focus control.

Price and Availability The U.S. suggested list price for the enhanced
LitePro 580 remains $9,999. The LitePro 580 is immediately available
through authorized In Focus Systems resellers and distributors worldwide.
All In Focus projection products include a one-year warranty on parts and
labor.
