HYPERION LEAPFROGS INTRANET "STRATEGY" ANNOUNCEMENTS: ANNOUNCES FAST
DELIVERY OF INTRANET PRODUCT SPANNING ITS COMPLETE SUITE

NEW HYPERION PRODUCT PLANNED FOR DELIVERY IN AUGUST

STAMFORD, Conn., April 29, 1996 -- In a move technology analysts say puts
Hyperion Software (NASDAQ: HYSW) out in front in the race to exploit new
intranet technology across accounting, reporting, budgeting and analysis
processes, Hyperion Software today announced the planned August delivery
of a new intranet product versus less sophisticated "web-enabling only"
technologies being announced by competitors.

The new product advances Hyperion, one of the top three providers of
client/server-based financial and accounting software according to
International Data Corporation, ahead of the market on two fronts. First,
the company has already built and is concluding testing of the product, to
be named formally and priced at its commercial launch. Second, Hyperion is
delivering a web-based product that both integrates and delivers
information across Hyperion's accounting, reporting, budgeting and
analysis products.

"We believe that Hyperion's CFO offering, combining budgeting, accounting,
reporting and analysis provides a complete framework for chief financial
officers," said Barry Wilderman, vice president of Meta Group's
Application Delivery Strategies service. "With its intranet offering,
Hyperion has now taken the important additional step of allowing remote
users an 'application-aware,' web-based vehicle for financial reporting
and analysis."

The new product directly addresses the corporate market's need for faster,
better access to financial information. Hyperion will provide its 2,700
worldwide corporate customers with the ability to have fast, dynamic
access to and querying capability of interrelated financial information,
combined with valuable data gleaned from the intranet. Hyperion's
customers will have this capability, using proper security privileges,
through standard web browsers from any location and can immediately
generate dynamic reports and charts.

Hyperion's new intranet product is also built with ease of use and cost
efficiencies in mind. In addition to its ability to use any standard web
browser, information is processed on the server, eliminating the need for
expensive, client-based hardware and software upgrades.

HYPERION AGAIN ADVANCES INTEGRATION TECHNOLOGY

In its second recent announcement, Hyperion is announcing an enhancement of
its integration capabilities. The new intranet product fully leverages
Hyperion's common data access technology, announced on April 19, through
Hyperion CFO (Complete Financial Offering) in North America. The
technology allows the company to offer its products either uncoupled or
combined into an integrated financial suite. Hyperion CFO links a
company's various information stores to create a financial data mart.

"Hyperion is offering a revolutionary advancement beyond the current
generation of management reporting and end-user access systems," said
James A. Perakis, president and CEO of Hyperion Software. "While this
completely addresses the same need -- quick, easy, graphical access to
information -- its architecture, approach and capability differentiate it
from other current or planned products in the market."

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

In its August release, Hyperion's intranet product creates new reporting
and analysis opportunities for corporations in getting additional value of
Hyperion products and adding a high-value internet capability. Key
features include:

o Integrated information access
o Dynamic, interactive reports and charts
o Intelligent point of view (POV) navigation within reports and charts
o Integrated "hot links" with other web sites
o Disconnected static report viewing
o Hyperion application security, plus web server security
o Ability for clients to write and include their own Java applets
o Complete support for third-party web authoring tools for application
  building and customization.

TEST CUSTOMERS OUTLINE PLANS FOR NEW PRODUCT

With several customers already well into the testing process, early
reactions to Hyperion's intranet product have been very favorable -- and
are causing a lot of user excitement. Hyperion's new integrated product
suite, Hyperion CFO, and the new intranet product will be demonstrated to
all Hyperion users attending the companys user conference May 5-8 in
Dallas.

"At Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI), we're already envisioning several ways to
use Hyperion's new intranet product for management on the road," said
Sally MacDonald, systems administrator. "For instance, we'll be allowing
international sales directors, who travel country to country, to make
better use of web browsers running on SGI workstations. The sales manager
can log into Hyperion's intranet product and gain critical information,
without having to straddle time zone issues back at headquarters, and
without having to carry around data that is only as recent as his last
visit to headquarters!"

MacDonald also said SGI likes Hyperion's one-stop financial shopping
concept. "We could have a single web page for financial analysts, for
instance. This web page would link to Hyperion Enterprise for financial
statements, our ledger for transaction processing, and proprietary
databases for marketing and customer data. This same web page could be
'help text' specific to job functions so that the end user knows which
tool accesses the data needed to accomplish specific tasks."

Hyperion Software, with $165 million in sales for the 12-month period ended
March 1996, develops, markets and supports complete financial management
and accounting solutions for large, multinational corporations. The
company's client/server products include accounting, reporting, budgeting
and analysis software. With more than 2,700 corporate customers, Hyperion
Software's client base includes 65 percent of the Fortune 100 and over 50
percent of the Fortune 500 companies. A winner of the Inc./MCI Positive

exceptional customer service. Hyperion Software is headquartered in
