World's Largest Computer-Generated Puzzle Assembled Today Across Los
Angeles Coliseum Playing Field

Hundreds of Schoolchildren Create 27,000-square-foot Image of Mickey Mouse
to Help Set World Record

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. MAY 18, 1996

A once-in-a-lifetime experience was realized today when 700 Los
Angeles-area schoolchildren, their parents and teachers assembled more
than 2,000 puzzle pieces to create a gigantic image of Mickey Mouse. The
puzzle was assembled across the Los Angeles Coliseum playing field,
creating a computer-generated puzzle more than half the size of a football
field.

Known as "Mickey to the Max," the 27,000-square-foot puzzle was assembled
using 3-by-4-foot interlocking pieces -- all printed on color printers
made by Hewlett-Packard Company.

The event, hosted by HP and Disney Interactive, celebrated National Family
Month and the launch of the HP DeskJet 682C printer, which is packaged
with Disney Interactive software.

"Both HP and Disney Interactive are focused on bringing fun and excitement
to the home," said Kara Kerker, marketing manager for HP consumer hardcopy
products. "This giant puzzle demonstrates the power and potential of
printing technology today and how it can be used by consumers of all ages
for a variety of purposes."

HP's color printers produced the recyclable puzzle pieces during 1,680
hours of continuous printing, using 42,000 feet of paper and 1,000
cartridges of ink. An estimated 354 billion dots make up the puzzle's
images.

The gigantic puzzle, which took the children about two hours to assemble,
will be submitted to the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest
computer-generated puzzle.

Each participating school received a DeskJet 682C printer, which includes
Disney Interactive's Mickey and Friends Print Studio CD-ROM. The CD-ROM
features more than 15 print projects. The printer and software -- created
exclusively for HP -- were introduced together last month.

Disney Interactive, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, develops,
markets and distributes a broad range of family-oriented interactive
entertainment and edutainment materials, including CD-ROMs, video games
and on-line products.
