MARSHALL INDUSTRIES TO DISTRIBUTE HITACHI HARD DISK DRIVES

BRISBANE AND EL MONTE, CALIF., MAY 20, 1996

Marshall Industries and Hitachi America, Ltd.'s Computer Division today
announced that Hitachi's 2.5-in. hard disk drive products will be
distributed by Marshall. The new distribution agreement marks an expansion
of the business partnership between Hitachi America and Marshall, which
already distributes flat panel display and semiconductor products offered
by other divisions in Hitachi's Converging Technologies Group.

Marshall will resell Hitachi's full line of 2.5-in. disk drives, presently
available with storage capacities ranging from 540 MB to 1.35 GB, designed
for use in notebooks and other portable computers. Hitachi, which has
manufactured hard disk drives for more than 20 years, shipped its first
2.5-in. disk drives in 1994. The company was recently ranked by both
Dataquest and International Data Corp. as the fifth largest supplier of
2.5-in. drives worldwide based on total shipments in 1995.

Marshall Industries is the fifth largest publicly held distributor of
industrial electronic components and production supplies, with annual
sales of more than $1 billion. Widely recognized for its innovations in
