HITACHI HOME ELECTRONICS AMERICA LAUNCHES WORLD WIDE WEB SITE

NORCROSS, GA., MAY 6, 1996

Hitachi Home Electronics (America), Inc., a subsidiary of Hitachi America,
Ltd., today announced the creation of a worldwide web site that provides
interactive search capabilities for its full line of consumer products.

The web site, accessed through http://www.hitachi.com, includes in- depth
information on Hitachi Home Electronics' projection and direct view TV
systems, VCRs, camcorders, and small appliances, including breadmakers and
shavers. The site employs software that allows visitors to view animation
and enjoy audio clips. Users can browse the product line via graphical
images or go directly to the desired product from the main menu.

"The site enables visitors to be fully informed about our products before
purchasing," said Tom Cawley, national training and web site program
manager at Hitachi Home Electronics. The site also includes a section of
frequently asked questions (FAQ) spanning the entire product line and a
user friendly glossary on Hitachi's technology and product features.

"Individuals can now search for the product they desire and retrieve
product images, function and feature lists as well as product specs", said
Cawley "After researching the products within the site, users can quickly
and easily find where their nearest dealer is located. This will help to
simplify their purchase by linking them up with Hitachi's extensive and
knowledgeable dealer network."

Hitachi's web page will be updated monthly with new products, features, and
other functions, including on-line chat sessions with product managers,
engineers, and support personnel. Longer term, the company plans to build
in additional functionality and interactivity. The web site complements a
CDROM currently available to the Hitachi dealer network, which includes
line art, photographs, feature lists, P.O.P. graphics and TV commercials
for use in specific ads or in-store promotions.

"The site is an integral part of Hitachi America's growing presence on the
Web," said Gerard F. Corbett, director of corporate communications for
Hitachi America, Ltd. "It will be available worldwide from the Hitachi
America Home Page at http://www.hitachi.com beginning May 18, 1996."
