HARPERKIDS' INTERACTIVE INTRODUCES FIVE NEW CHILDREN'S ACTIVITY-BASED
CD-ROM TITLES AT E3

KIDS 3-12 CAN EXPERIENCE READING, HISTORY, VOCABULARY IN THE COMPANY OF
DINOSAURS, FRIENDLY FROGS, HIP CHIMPS AND OTHER FRIENDS ON CD-ROM

Los Angeles, California; May 16, 1996 -- Leveraging HarperCollins'
award-winning, classic children's content and world class authors,
HarperKids' Interactive premiered today the first five titles of its newly
formed multimedia product line at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition
(E3). Developed for children ages 3 to 12, these entertaining hybrid
CD-ROM titles also address the fundamentals of early education -- history,
vocabulary, spelling, reading and writing.

"HarperKids' Interactive's products are designed to entertain as well as
educate," said Peter Clifton, vice president and director of HarperKids'
Interactive. "Our first five titles represent the innovative,
activity-based and fun products that we believe children and their parents
have been seeking." Each title will be released with an accompanying web
site that will feature downloadable demos, games, activities and other new
information.

DANNY AND THE DINOSAUR -- I CAN READ ACTIVITY CENTER

Based on the best-selling book by Syd Hoff, Danny and the Dinosaur takes
beginning readers ages 3 to 6 on a fun-filled adventure through five
exciting activities that build important early reading skills. With Danny
and the Dinosaur as companions, kids can play a humorous game of Hide and
Seek, visit the Zany Zoo and even participate in a rousing game of
Baseball. The I Can Read Activity Center's bold and colorful animation,
engaging sound effects and delightful music create hours of replayable
entertainment and provide an effective introduction to reading skills.

FROG AND TOAD ARE FRIENDS -- I CAN READ ACTIVITY CENTER

Beginning readers ages 4 to 7 can join Frog and Toad in exciting,
entertaining activities that help them practice and hone early learning
skills. Five dynamic activities, each of which builds important reading
skills, provide hours of fun and interactive learning. Kids can play an
amusing game to awaken Toad, embark on a fascinating search for a missing
button and take a refreshing "swim" in the pond. Based on the best-selling
book by Arnold Lobel, Frog and Toad Are Friends provides brightly colored
animation, charming music and lively sound effects to create an engaging,
constructive introduction to reading.

WHATLEY'S QUEST: A MAGICAL WORLD ADVENTURE

Kids ages 6 to 10 enter the medieval world of magic and mayhem to discover
the riches of Whatley's Quest, a vocabulary-building treasure hunt based
on the beautifully illustrated book by Bruce Whatley. An ancient treasure
map is torn and scattered throughout a brilliantly illustrated alphabet
kingdom. If the kids can rebuild the mystical map by solving challenging
puzzles, brain teasers and games, they can prove themselves to the Wizard
and earn the key to unlock the treasure map's secrets. This action-packed
animated adventure is a treasure trove of fun.

MORGAN'S ADVENTURES IN COLONIAL AMERICA

City Hall plans to cut down the treehouse of Morgan the chimp, but what can
he do? Morgan and his pal Skatergator learn how to fight City Hall by
going back in time to learn about democracy. Kids ages 7 to 12 tag along
with the chimp-led group, discovering the spirit of independence and how
to stand up for what they believe in as they explore the United States
while it was still ruled by England. After traveling to Colonial America,
Morgan and Skatergator take part in the Revolutionary War and the Boston
Tea Party; ride along with Paul Revere; spend a winter at Valley Forge and
join in the Battle of Yorktown. When the Declaration of Independence is
accidentally ruined, it's up to the players to round up all the missing
signatures before history is changed forever. The high-energy action
experience is driven by comical characters, interactive games that
challenge as they enlighten the individual, and a clickable encyclopedia
of facts, commentary and video clips.

MORGAN'S ADVENTURES IN ANCIENT GREECE

History couldn't be more enticing than in the company of Morgan, a hip
chimpanzee who's had it with history class lectures. Just before a pop
quiz, Morgan is suddenly transported out of his classroom to the middle of
ancient Greece for an exciting historical adventure. Exploring his
surroundings -- while trying to stay out of mischief -- is the only way
he'll be able to return home and pass his test. Kids ages 7 to 12 follow
Morgan to ancient Greece to take part in Homer's epic, The Iliad; climb
Mt. Olympus to meet the gods and goddesses of Greek mythology; sail to
Troy with Poseidon; learn the Greek alphabet; and find out how ancient
Greece influenced today's world. This lively romp through history is made
unforgettable by outrageously funny characters, challenging interactive
games and a clickable encyclopedia full of facts, commentary and video
clips.
