STRATEGY FOR MEETING DSP ENGINEERING TRAINING NEEDS ANNOUNCED BY MILLER
FREEMAN

(San Francisco) April 29, 1996 -- In response to explosive industry growth,
Miller Freeman has announced a major new commitment to meeting the
training needs of signal processing engineers in 1996, along with future
expansion plans to serve the educational demands of the international DSP
industry. Efforts are currently underway to further develop the largest
combined event in signal processing: The International Conference on
Signal Processing Applications & Technology (ICSPAT), DSP World Expo, and
The Data Acquisition Conference and Expo. The 1996 event was moved to
Boston, MA from its originally scheduled venue to accommodate attendance
and exhibition growth; it will now be held October 7-10, 1996 at the World
Trade Center in Boston, MA.

Conference attendance in 1995 grew 40% over 1994, indicating a demand for
high-quality training on DSP-specific topics. Attendance in 1996 is
expected to further increase, with a record gathering of more than 5,000
attendees, academics, speakers, and vendors. Currently, over 550 abstracts
are being reviewed by the Technical Review Committee for the 1996
conference. Over 100 companies are expected to exhibit at the 1996 DSP
World and Data Acquisition Expo, demonstrating hundreds of new products
and technologies. The exhibit show floor will have more than 50k square
feet of exhibit space, a 25% increase over 1995.

"DSP engineers don't have many places to get training specifically focused
on their design challenges," notes Ted Bahr, Vice President of Miller
Freeman's Electronics Division. "The core of this event is the conference
program, which features over 400 presentations by the leading thinkers and
practitioners in DSP design. Dr. Amnon Aliphas, the founder of ICSPAT and
DSP World, will continue his role as the chair of the Technical Review
Committee. Meanwhile, Miller Freeman's expertise as one of the country's
largest trade show producers will benefit the operations and marketing of
the show."

Plans to meet the global information needs of DSP designers include
rotating venues each year, to (each geographic pockets of DSP engineers.
Future venues considered include San Diego, Dallas, and Silicon Valley. In
addition, Miller Freeman is investigating a smaller, springtime show,
along with a European event to address the explosive growth of the
international DSP market, and the resulting training, needs of DSP
engineers.

"With its impressive growth in the last six years and wide range of
international attendees, this event continues to be the strongest DSP
event in the world," said Bill Rutledge, Show Director of Miller freeman's
Electronics Division.

EE Times, one of the electronics industry's leading periodicals, is a
co-sponsor of ICSPAT and IDSP World for the fourth straight year. Editors
from EE Times will be leading two panel sessions as part of the technical
program. Miller Freeman will announce 1996's keynote speaker, conference
topics, new [product announcements, and other details of the event
shortly.

As publishers of Embedded Systems Programming and Communication Systems
Design, and producers of the Embedded Systems Conferences and the
Communication Design Engineering Conference, Miller Freeman leverages
their expertise in providing training and education to design engineers
and software developers with the acquisition of this show. Miller Freeman
is one of the nation's largest producers of conferences and trade shows.
Other shows produced by Miller Freeman include the PCB Design Conference,
