AT THE FOREFRONT OF ATM NETWORKING FORE SYSTEMS SIGNS SYSTEMS INTEGRATION
AGREEMENT WITH ANIXTER. ANIXTER TO DISTRIBUTE FORE ATM, LAN AND WAN
PRODUCTS TO END USERS.

May 7, 1996-Pittsburgh, PA- FORE Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: FORE), a worldwide
leader in networking products based on asynchronous transfer mode (ATM)
technology today announced a systems integration agreement with Anixter
Inc., Skokie, Illinois, a leading value-added provider of integrated
communication systems and services. Under the terms of the agreement,
Anixter is reselling FORE's local-area and wide-area ATM and LAN access
products to end users in North America.

"We are confident that this relationship will help many new customers put
the power of ATM into their corporate networks," said Mike Green, FORE's
vice president of sales, marketing and customer service. "This commitment
by Anixter, one of the largest network resellers in the world, is
testimony to the continued interest in ATM products and, in particular,
the interest in the ATM products developed by FORE Systems."

With FORE's broad product lines, including ATM LAN switches and adapters,
LAN access switches and wide area network ATM products, Green said Anixter
has the ability to provide end users with desktop, workgroup or
company-wide ATM solutions for data, voice and video.

According to the most recent reports from Dataquest, San Jose, California,
FORE Systems continues to hold the leader's position in both the ATM LAN
switch and ATM network adapter card markets with over 60 percent market
share in each area during 1994 and 1995.

Anixter and FORE Systems have agreed to train and certify Anixter's sales
force and network engineers. Anixter's field offices will have the ability
to design and install networks and will offer full support from the
company's state-of-the-art customer support center.
