Video tutorials mark a UK first for new Europress sailing sim

The UK's first sailing simulation to feature full motion video tutorials
casts off on the Europress stand with the launch of Interactive Sailing -
an action packed addition to its Lifestyle range.

Interactive Sailing puts you at the helm of your own high tech sail boat in
a virtual regatta where you call the shots, or take everything the
computer can throw at you in a 50 knot gale! Your craft is the 34 foot
J/105, a racer/cruiser which is tuned to both newcomers and experienced
sailors.

Before you take to the water, more than 40 full motion video clips give you
a comprehensive tour of the J Boat, with full explanations of all
instruments and sails. Your instructor from the J World Performance
Sailing School takes you from the basics of sailing and boat handling
right through to starting procedure, race manoeuvring and tactics and
there's a practice mode, so you can brush up on your technique before you
compete. There are also 37 comprehensive help tutorials.

Pure versatility is the hallmark of Interactive Sailing. You have the
choice of three regatta courses ranging from an amateur race to the
thrills of a fast action sprint, and you can even set the length, up to
five nautical miles. You can choose to act as skipper or crew and if
you're very ambitious you can carry out the duties of both! You set the
wind speed and direction and can even fix the skill levels of your three
opponents.

Then it's time to vie for position and watch for the red flag as the race
starts. The J-Boat cockpit gives you the best of modern instrumentation
with wind gauges, sail controls and even a satellite guidance system. You
can take the helm in the cockpit or steer from outside the boat while
viewing your opponents and your own craft in a 360 degree panorama.
There's an overhead map of the whole course to help you track your
progress and the program also has save and pause features.

Whether you are an experienced sailor or a landlubber wanting to learn
more, this new Europress package gives you a true simulation of one of the
world's most exciting tactical sports.

Interactive Sailing is available now and costs $(UK)19.99.
