EDS Unigraphics Announces Parasolid V7.1 with Enhanced Capabilities For
Modeling Complex Parts

ST. LOUIS, May 21, 1996--EDS Unigraphics announces the release of Parasolid
V7.1, its leading solid modeling kernel. This release extends Parasolid's
production-proven modeling capabilities with numerous enhancements and
performance improvements.

Parasolid V7.1 provides enhanced capabilities for many complex modeling
operations, such as creating conic-section and notch- overflow blends and
thickening of surfaces with sharp corners to produce solids. "Cases like
these can be difficult to model mathematically, but they are frequently
encountered in mechanical engineering designs," explained Paul Jobson,
Parasolid product marketing. "It is Parasolid's ability to work reliably
with these types of real-world models that differentiates it in the kernel
modeling market and version 7.1 further extends our lead."

Significant features of Parasolid V7.1 include non-circular cross- section
blends, notch-overflow face-face blends, extensions to thickening of sheet
bodies, enhanced booleans on sheet bodies and enhanced support for
mid-surface generation.

The use of kernel solid modelers within commercial and in-house CAD/CAM
applications has been growing rapidly, and EDS Unigraphics has experienced
significantly increased interest in Parasolid recently.

"The value of component software that has a proven ability to build complex
models cannot be underestimated," said Ken Sears, director of the
Parasolid Business Unit. "Within Unigraphics for example, Parasolid is
utilized to model complex turbine geometry, car body designs, aircraft
components, consumer products and a wide variety of molds and dies. This
gives confidence to our existing and our potential customers that
Parasolid provides them with world-leading technology that really works."

Parasolid is licensed by a growing number of companies including
SolidWorks, Concentra, MacNeal-Schwendler, Topcad, Vero, Fujitsu, Yamaha &
Mitsubishi Electric. Parasolid's ease of integration and a track record
for consistently delivering software releases on-time enables these
companies to quickly incorporate new releases and benefit from the latest
enhancements. For example, Parasolid V7.1 will be incorporated into V11.1
of Unigraphics, V2 of Solid Works 95, V6 of TOPsolid and V2.2 of Visicad
Solids--all of which are scheduled for release in the next few months.

Parasolid is an exact boundary-representation solid modeler supporting
free-form surfaces developed by EDS Unigraphics in Cambridge, England
(formerly Shape Data Ltd.). Parasolid is supplied as a library of routines
designed for easy integration into CAD/CAM/CAE systems and specialized
applications that require robust solid modeling capabilities and minimal
time to market. The comprehensive functionality enables the system builder
to focus their development effort on adding value to their own
application. "Pipelined Parasolid" provides seamless exchange of models
between all Parasolid-based systems.

EDS Unigraphics develops, markets, sells, implements and supports
mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE and PDM software and services designed to improve
our clients' total product development processes. Offerings include
Unigraphics for design-through-manufacture applications, IMAN for
workgroup- and enterprise-wide product data management, and
product-related services including computing and communications, systems
support and management, best practice consulting, and training. EDS
Unigraphics also provides Parasolid-- the world's leading, high-precision
boundary-representation solid modeler to serve mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE
applications.

EDS Unigraphics' competitive advantage lies in its ability to bring both
products and consulting services to all areas addressing product
development. Accessing our parent company's offerings, manufacturing
industry expertise and financial strength gives us a level of capability
beyond that of our competitors.

EDS is a leader in the global information services industry. The company's
