DELL SEIZES SERVER PRICE LEADERSHIP POSITION

Company Announces Dramatic Price Reductions Across Network Server Line

AUSTIN, TEXAS, APRIL 29, 1996 -- Dell Computer Corp. (Nasdaq: DELL)
aggressively reduced prices today by up to 34 percent across its Dell
PowerEdge network server product line.

Today's announcement comes as a result of Dell's efficient direct business
model, which has enabled Dell to pass along to customers the savings from
reductions in system component costs. The Dell direct approach also
provides savings by eliminating large inventories of finished goods,
avoiding middleman dealers, and keeping operating expenses low.

Dell, the world's leading direct marketer of computer systems, said that
the current price cuts result in large part from the rapid reductions in
system component costs which have occurred in recent months, and from
Dell's unique ability to pass those cost reductions along to the customer
quickly because of Dell's low inventory business model.

With today's announcement, the company believes it is resetting the
price/performance model for the server marketplace.

"With our price moves today, we are signaling to our customers and the
competition that the premium paid for network servers is coming down to
earth," said Michael Dell, chairman and CEO. "The demand for information
-- both within companies and across society -- has been steadily
increasing, driving the need for more affordable network servers. Our
announcement today helps make that vision a reality."

"We are looking to continue our momentum in the server market with pricing
that is now substantially below our major competitors in this market," Mr.
Dell added.

The PowerEdge network server systems reduced today fill a variety of roles,
from handling workloads for small workgroups to serving large enterprise
networks. They are also designed for customers setting up Internet
connections and Web sites, as well as customers preparing to transition to
Microsoft Windows NT.

The entry-level Dell PowerEdge EL is an ideal network server package for
first-time server sites, remote branch offices and larger offices
requiring an additional server. The PowerEdge EL can also be purchased as
a pre-configured, ready-to-run Internet server, complete with Windows NT,
Netscape software and Web site authoring tools for customers looking to
connect to the Internet or develop their own home pages.

The PowerEdge SP and XE, now available with Intel's 166 MHz Pentium
processor, are designed for scalability and upgradeability and are ideally
suited for use as mid-range file, resource sharing and application
servers. The PowerEdge SP and XE offer options such as ECC (error checking
and correcting) memory, RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks)
technology, server management and hot-spare and hot-swappable drives,
providing customers with "maximum uptime."

The PowerEdge XL, Dell's high-end, symmetrical multiprocessing server, uses
as many as four Pentium processors and offers advanced server management
features. The XL server includes leading-edge technologies such as PCI
(Peripheral Component Interconnect) local bus technology, up to 768 MB of
ECC memory, high-performance disk subsystems, hot-spare and hot-pluggable
disk drive options, and server management hardware and software.

Dell has recently invested in upgrading its services, capabilities and
infrastructure to fully support the company's server initiative,
including:

Expansion of the company's Dell PlusSM factory integration facility

The addition of DEC as worldwide server on-site service provider

Increasing field account executives in the U.S. and Europe to grow
the existing direct relationships with major, global accounts

Increasing the number of Systems Engineers to improve the company's
network consulting, service and support capabilities in both the
 U.S. and Europe.

Adding to the company's server and networking services, such as
Dell DirectLineSM network operating system support and on-site
set-up, validation and installation of Dell servers.

Between its investments in infrastructure and capabilities, and the
company's continued aggressive price position, Dell is making the
investments to further increase its momentum in the server marketplace.
