Cabletron Hosts North American Seminar Series On Building Intranets and
Virtual Networks

Eleven City Seminar Tour Focuses On Implementing Switched Virtual Networks
And Corporate Intranets

ROCHESTER, NH -- MAY 1, 1996 -- Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) today announced
an extensive eleven-city schedule for a new national seminar series
entitled Intranet Essentials: Switching and Virtual Networking. Addressing
the rapidly- expanding role of corporate intranets, the seminars will
feature notable senior industry analysts from McConnell Consulting, Inc.,
Strategic Networks Consulting and The Yankee Group, along with senior
systems engineers from Cabletron. The seminars will detail how switching
and SecureFast Virtual Networking can provide corporate intranets with
reduced operational costs, policy-based management and security, efficient
bandwith allocation, user accountability, user mobility and other
feature-rich advantages.

The explosive growth in Internet usage has made information more accessible
for web surfers. But the building of Intranets--implementation of internal
company Web sites--will deliver a new, higher level of internal and
collaborative communications and job productivity. On-line publishing,
improved customer ordering and service, electronic financial transactions,
video and voice conferencing and other advanced functions will soon be
delivered right to the desktop. Intranet Essentials: Switching and Virtual
Networking will explore the "growing pain" issues and technology
advancements that will make this new bandwith-hungry era of computer
network infrastructures possible.

"The phenomenal growth of corporate intranets has created a burden on both
the network and the network manager," said Michael Welts, director of
worldwide marketing at Cabletron. "Hosting this seminar series continues
Cabletron's renowned commitment as a full-scale solutions provider. By
presenting these seminars, we're able to deliver concise, pertinent
intranet-building education for the network manager or engineer,
addressing many major concerns such as increased bandwidth requirements
and the implementation of critical management tools."

The eleven city seminar tour, to be held during June 1996, will begin in
Toronto, Ontario on June 4 and continue in 10 major U.S. cities. The
half-day seminars are free of charge to all information and technology
managers, administrators and design engineers. All seminars begin at 8
a.m. with registration and refreshments. Early registration is suggested
as seating is limited. Interested individuals may R.S.V.P. to Cabletron at
