TIME WARNER CABLE SELECTS CONNECT TO BUILD APPLICATION FOR NEXT GENERATION
OF DREAMSHOP

CONNECT OneServer Platform to Enable New DreamShop State-of-the-Art
Interactive Shopping Environment

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 23, 1996 -- Connect, Inc., a provider of
Internet-based interactive commerce and order management applications,
today announced an agreement with Time Warner Cable (TWC) to create the
next generation of online shopping. The new application will combine
Connect software with Time Warner Cable custom developed interactive
commerce technology and will be used for DreamShop, TWC's multi-platform,
interactive shopping service.

The CONNECT OneServer software platform will serve as the core technology
for an expanded version of DreamShop, a branded, state-of-the-art
interactive shopping environment, to be delivered over the Internet and
direct to homes via cable modem. DreamShop is now available on Time
Warner's Pathfinder World Wide Web site, its Full-Service Network in
Orlando, Fla. and its LineRunner PC cable service test in Elmira, N.Y.

Modeled after an up-scale suburban mall, the new DreamShop Web site will
serve as an online venue for leading retailers, catalog companies,
manufacturers and entrepreneurs, distributed via the Internet and cable
modem. Currently DreamShop participants include Burdines, The Bombay
Company, Book-of-the-Month Club, Caswell-Massey, Cosmetics Plus, Crunch,
Eddie Bauer, Greet Street, The Horchow Collection, IGO Golf, Mozzarella
Company, Omaha Steaks, The Sharper Image, The Sharper Image Spa, Spiegel,
The Stash Tea Company, Time Warner Viewer's Edge, and Williams-Sonoma.

"This year, DreamShop will take a giant step toward its goal of becoming
the pre-eminent shopping destination on the Web," said Jennifer Carney,
vice president, Time Warner Cable Programming-Digital Marketing Group.
"Time Warner Cable chose Connect because of its ability to create a
unique, customized solution to the challenge that our advanced interactive
shopping environment posed."

Tom Kehler, president and CEO of CONNECT, said the agreement with Time
Warner provides the company with a strong foundation in the
business-to-consumer market, complementing its core business-to-business
strategy.

"In assessing the consumer market for interactive commerce, it's clear that
Time Warner is the industry leader, combining engaging content with
tremendous bandwidth," Kehler said. "We are pleased that Time Warner chose
the OneServer platform for DreamShop."

CONNECT's OneServer will provide the basic infrastructure on which the new
DreamShop software will be developed, TWC's Carney said.

"This infrastructure will support a unique, transactional solution, and it
will enable us to develop compelling interactive shopping content that
includes DreamShop and other interactive commerce opportunities," Carney
said. "We think consumers are ripe for a major shift in how they shop, and
that DreamShop will accelerate this shift, fusing together products and
information in a convenient and trusted new shopping mode. DreamShop will
help them better manage their time by executing transactions conveniently,
at home."

About OneServer

Introduced in September 1995, OneServer is based on open standards --
including UNIX, Oracle 7 and the Internet/WWW. The platform supports a
full set of APIs for users of Web browsers and custom client (Visual BASIC
and Java) applications.

OneServer incorporates a Fulcrum text search engine and a five-layer
security model using RSA protocols. The OneServer architecture reduces the
amount of custom code and CGI scripting necessary for dynamic site
content, resulting in rapid time-to-market for interactive commerce
applications.
