RESIDENT EVIL ON TRACK TO BECOME THE TOP-SELLING GAME FOR THE SONY
PLAYSTATION

E3, LOS ANGELES -- May 16, 1996 -- Capcom Entertainment today announced
that Resident Evil is well on its way to become the number one
best-selling piece of software for the Sony PlayStation. In little more
than six weeks, Resident Evil has sold more than 250,000 units. Easily the
most anticipated game to date, Resident Evil defies comparison by
combining genres of action, horror, role-playing, and strategy into a
single game. The suspense and anticipation of what's around the corner
will make even the most jaded gamer's jaw drop. Resident Evil has a "M"
rating for mature audiences from the Entertainment Software Rating Board
(ESRB). It carries a suggested retail price of $66.95.

"I'm ecstatic to say that we have a mega hit on our hands," said Greg
Ballard, president of Capcom Entertainment. "Resident Evil has surpassed
Street Fighter Alpha in sales, which I'm proud to say exceed 230,000
units. We knew Resident Evil was going to be a big title for Capcom
because of the tremendous interest it has generated from the trade, press,
consumers, and now even from a movie studio. Several retailers have called
me to express their belief that Capcom is really on a roll. I believe
they're right. This could be Capcom's biggest year yet."

In Resident Evil you control either Chris Redfield, the slacker pilot and
sharpshooter; or Jill Valentine, the tough demolition's expert, of
S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad), sent in to investigate your
fellow teammates' helicopter crash. Once at the crash site, however,
you're quickly chased into a nearby foreboding mansion by a pack of
monstrous creatures. This house is filled with acid-spitting zombies,
giant spiders, horrid frog-like creatures, mutant dogs and a host of other
tricks and traps guaranteed to make you sweat and beg for more.
