Apple Computer and WETV Collaborate on First-Ever Interactive Coverage of
the UN Habitat II Summit

Internet and Television Technology Combine for Public Access to United
Nations Habitat II Summit

CUPERTINO, California and OTTAWA, Canada--May 28, 1996--Apple Computer,
Inc. and WETV, two pioneers in the information and communications fields,
will combine Internet and television technology to provide citizens
worldwide the opportunity to participate in the upcoming United Nations
summit on the future of the world's cities.

Habitat II, also known as the "City Summit", will occur in Istanbul, Turkey
June 3-14. The summit will convene world leaders and experts to discuss
problems and solutions related to the state of cities, housing, shelter
and urban development. "Habitat II is about the future of the global
village," said Dr. Wally N'Dow, secretary-general of Habitat II. "The
Apple-WETV project merges two lanes of the information highway, the
Internet and television, to provide the inhabitants of that village
interactive contact with the decision-makers taking part in a major world
event. I congratulate Apple Computer and WETV for this initiative."

This week Apple plans to launch a special website titled "Tomorrow's
Cities: The Internet town meeting on the UN City Summit"
(http://habitat.apple.com/), with interactive webcast coverage commencing
June 3. Through the webcast, Internet users will be able to tune into
summit video clips, share ideas in discussion boards and read special
reports. Most importantly, citizens will be able to join daily live
discussions with key summit participants including secretary-general Wally
N'Dow and other UN and government officials, mayors and experts in urban
affairs.

WETV, the world's first global access television network, will have its own
on-the-ground crew providing television coverage of the summit for daily
worldwide broadcast and future features. On each day of the summit WETV
will broadcast programs on Habitat themes to a network of at least 30
broadcast affiliates in 25 countries (distributed in Spanish, English and
French). The broadcasts will invite viewers to take part in Apple's live
webcast, and the WETV crew in Istanbul will in turn, incorporate webcast
feedback into subsequent interviews and programs.

Earlier this month Apple Computer, Inc. announced plans to increase its
content efforts on the Internet by increasing and expanding its websites
and webcast developments and the Company stated it intends to create
online the same media-rich user experience that has made Macintosh the
platform of choice for creating, learning and communicating.

Today's ground-breaking announcement brings Apple and WETV technologies and
content together. The main features of the Apple-WETV collaboration
include:

* A new World Wide Web site with the tagline "Tomorrow's Cities: the
Internet Town Meeting on the UN City Summit." WETV will supply Apple with
daily television footage for inclusion as webcast video segments.

* WETV's Habitat-related programming will be partially guided by citizen
input from the live discussions on the web site, generating questions
which will be put to some of the summit participants by WETV's
news-gathering crew in Istanbul. The website's live discussions will be
included in post-summit features produced by WETV, extending the ideas and
concerns of citizens even further.

* Polling feedback collected at the website will be used in WETV's summit
coverage, giving Internet users around the world a voice in the summit
discussions.

Apple and WETV are inviting every member state of the United Nations to
ensure that their citizens have access to Habitat II, thereby galvanizing
virtual participation, as well as influence on, the City Summit. "Where
Internet access is not widely available, we are calling on governments to
identify sites on university campuses, libraries, and government and
United Nations offices that could be opened up to allow people to put
their questions directly to summit participants, " said Christopher
Escher, director of Apple Internet Studios and Productions. "Any site with
World Wide Web access can connect people into this global town meeting at
Habitat II."

"In linking with Apple Computer for this joint project, we will bring the
information highway right into the United Nations summit," said David
Nostbakken, president and CEO of WETV. "Our Habitat II coverage will reach
an even broader universe and in turn be shaped by first-hand, immediate
citizen response gathered through the website."

Apple has developed webcasts as a whole new way to experience live events
and has produced six webcasts, including the 1996 GRAMMY Awards. Apple
webcasts take advantage of the Company's superior multimedia technologies,
including: audio, video, digital pictures, QuickTime TV and QuickTime VR
(for creating virtual reality scenes), while chats and discussion boards
establish webcasts as an interactive media form.

WETV Development Corporation was established in April 1996 to develop and
operate a new global access television network. When fully operational,
WETV will assemble a mix of original programs and programming from
independent producers and WETV's own "Mosaic Partner" around the world,
and distribute it as a regular full-time program schedule to broadcast
affiliates with a potential audience of over one billion people.

Based in Ottawa, Canada, WETV is the result of two and a half years of
research and development supported by international development agencies,
in particular Canada's International Development Research Centre and
Canadian International Development Agency. WETV will operate as a
commercially-viable, privately-owned broadcasting enterprise, while WETV's
sister company, the not-for-profit WETV Program Corporation, governs
programming standards and develops original programming in collaboration
with international agencies, foundations, corporate underwriters and
non-governmental organizations. WETV is a trademark of WETV Development
Corporation in the United States and other jurisdictions, used under
license.
