Apple Computer and Oracle Announce Intent to Certify Oracle Products on New
Apple Network Servers

Apple Network Servers Running Oracle Universal Server to Target Publishing,
Education and Workgroup Markets

WWDC, SAN JOSE, California--May 16, 1996--Oracle Corp. and Apple Computer,
Inc. today announced their intent to deliver Oracle's information
management capabilities to the Apple Network Server family. Oracle and
Apple plan to certify the Workgroup and Enterprise editions of Oracle
Universal Server, Oracle WebServer 2.0, Developer/2000 and Oracle
Applications for the AIX-based Apple Network Server family. Oracle is the
first database vendor to announce broad support for the Apple Network
Server platforms.

"Virtually the entire Oracle product line will soon be available to Apple
Network Server customers," said Ray Wong, vice president of Oracle's Power
Products Division. "Oracle leads the AIX server market mainly in
traditional segments such as manufacturing and telecommunications. Our
plans with Apple will help us penetrate markets where Apple has a strong
presence, such as publishing and education, and the general workgroup
market."

"Today's announcement with Oracle underscores Apple's strategy to work
closely with the industry's leading developers to provide mainstream
solutions on Apple platforms," said Steve Angelo, vice president of
Enterprise Sales and Marketing at Apple Computer. "Our collaboration with
Oracle is expected to provide Apple's enterprise and publishing customers
with the full suite of Oracle's database products on the new departmental
Apple Network Server family."

Designed from the ground up as high-performance servers for demanding
departmental networks, the new Network Server 500 and 700 are the fastest,
most powerful, reliable, and expandable servers ever developed by Apple.
These servers run the AIX operating system from IBM, which is
distinguished in the business server market for its stability and broad
ISV-support. Apple is a member of the AIX Multiple Vendor Program (MVP), a
program which ensures that all AIX-based platforms, such as Apple's
Network Server, are binary compatible. The program thus ensures that
thousands of proven AIX-based applications will run across hardware
platforms from all MVP members without additional certification.

Oracle is the premiere information management solution optimized for AIX
platforms. Currently, Oracle products support every commercially available
PowerPC/AIX platform architecture, from standalone uniprocessor and SMP
servers to large-scale clustered and MPP systems. This broad level of
support represents hundreds of hours worth of development and production
level testing, jointly expended by Oracle and its AIX partners. In
addition, Oracle's scalability is unmatched as it holds both the highest
TPC-C and best price/performance tmpC numbers for PowerPC based AIX
platforms.
