Apple Details Plans for Webcast Coverage of Developer Conference

Schedule Features Corporate Strategy Keynote, Live Interviews, Special
Events

CUPERTINO, California--May 7, 1996--Apple Computer, Inc. today outlined the
programming for its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) WebCast. The
webcast will bring to the 'Net audio and video of the company's business
strategy--to be outlined by Dr. Gilbert F. Amelio, the company's CEO and
Chairman of the Board.

Apple's WWDC WebCast (http://wwdc.apple.com/) will also include opening
sessions with key Apple executives, such as Larry Tesler, vice president
of Internet platforms and chief scientist; Heidi Roizen, vice president of
developer relations and Guy Kawasaki, Apple fellow, about the company's
Internet, developer and Macintosh advocacy strategies, respectively. The
webcast will also offer live chats with these executives, as well as
discussion boards for sharing ideas, and from-the-scene coverage of the
developers conference.

Apple WebCasts take advantage of the company's superior multi-media
technologies, including audio, video, digital pictures and QuickTime VR
(for creating virtual reality experiences). By adding the webcast to the
WWDC offerings, Apple creates a new venue for getting closer to
developers.

"Staying abreast and even ahead of new technologies is the lifeblood of
developers on any platform and our webcast is an ideal way for developers
to stay further ahead," said Heidi Roizen, vice president of Apple
Developer Relations, "We recently pioneered the webcast, the Internet's
smartest way for engaging communities of people, and we are thrilled about
using this new venue to interact with developers far and near."

What's showing on the WWDC WebCast

The WWDC WebCast site at http://wwdc.apple.com/ launched on April 26; daily
updates kicked off May 6; and live coverage from the conference will occur
May 13-17. The webcast allows developers to: join the conference opening
sessions; download technologies and tools; receive daily reports from the
show; check out the "Person of the Day" (such as speakers and developers);
read first-hand, up-to-the-minute articles and reviews on products; share
ideas and learn from each other.

The webcast's live action is expected to include: "spy-cams" that capture
candid action; chats with Apple executives and industry pundits, and
online panel-style debates. For those who can't join the webcast, Apple
will archive much of the information and expects to maintain the site for
the next year.

This webcast marks the first time Apple is providing developers an
opportunity to experience conference highlights on the Web, enriching
attendees' experience and providing those who can't attend a multi- media
window into developer opportunities on Apple platforms.

Getting Prepared for the webcast

To fully experience an Apple WebCast, users should have a minimum 14.4 baud
modem and a direct Internet connection, as well as IRC (Internet Relay
Chat) client software. Additional "Helper Applications" can (and should)
be secured from the Web site (http://wwdc.apple.com/) prior to the events
kicking off on May 6. Conference attendees are invited to check out the
webcast the week of the show from one of the Apple Cyberdog kiosks located
at the convention center.
