ANSYS, Inc. Offers ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D Validation for Autodesk's AutoCAD and
the Mechanical Desktop Products

Breakthrough technology provides easy-to-use, affordable, and accessible
design analysis and optimization tools for designers.

HOUSTON, PA: May 20, 1996-ANSYS, Inc. today demonstrated ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D
Validation, a next-generation mechanical design software application
integrated with Autodesk's AutoCAD and Mechanical Desktop products.
ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D Validation represents a technology evolution that
provides designers with an easy-to-use, affordable, and accessible design
analysis and optimization tool. It provides design engineers with
meaningful and intuitive design information early in the product
development cycle and helps reduce production costs and time to market.

Using ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D Validation, designers can perform "first-cut"
analyses continuously throughout the design phase to answer questions such
as: What are the stresses and deflections? What materials are best suited
for the product? What is the factor of safety? In each case, designers
have access to use the same underlying analysis techniques that will be
deployed later for detailed product certification. This will enable them
to make early, intelligent decisions about design, materials, and
manufacturing that will accelerate product time-to-market.

Bruce Morgan, ANSYS vice president of marketing says, "In today's
competitive global marketplace, companies are slashing design cycles and
demanding more flexible engineering environments. By providing designers
with easy-to-use and cost-effective tools, such as ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D, we
support the development of enterprise-wide engineering systems that help
customers bring products to market more quickly."

ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D is based on the company's new object-oriented DesignSpace
application development environment. It is fully integrated with the
AutoCAD and Mechanical Desktop data models so there is no need for data
translation. Because ANSYS/AutoFEA 3 is fully associative with the AutoCAD
data structures, it can track changes and automatically update the AutoCAD
data model based on analysis results.

Traditionally, designers have depended on analysts for design verification
and optimization because the analytical tools were hard to use, expensive,
and often required translation of the CAD data into the analysis program.
Those obstacles are reduced using ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D. Designers remain
working within the familiar Windows-based AutoCAD or Mechanical Desktop
environment to perform numerous "what-if" scenarios and basic analysis of
designs. Numerous designs can be tested and validated without the time and
expense associated with traditional analysis and physical prototyping
which typically occur later in the development process.

From the Windows-based ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D Explorer interface to the ability
to produce and verify designs, ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D Validation ensures
efficient production of better designs while leveraging existing software,
hardware, and training.

Suggested pricing for ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D software is US $3,800. The software
is currently available on Intel-based PCs. The product will be available
in early June 1996.

ANSYS, Inc. is a leading international supplier of analysis and engineering
software optimizing the design of new products. ANSYS, Inc. is committed
to providing the most open and flexible analysis solution to suit customer
requirements for engineering software in today's competitive marketplace.
The company has established a global network of dealers and distributors
to sell, service, and support ANSYS/AutoFEA 3D.
