Raytheon Selects ANSYS Software as Preferred Design Analysis Solution

HOUSTON, PA: May 14, 1996--ANSYS, Inc. announced today that Raytheon
Electronic Systems selected ANSYS design analysis and simulation software
as its primary design analysis software, replacing NASTRAN from
MacNeal-Schwendler Corporation. Raytheon uses ANSYS technology in the
development of its electronics systems for military and commercial
products. The company selected ANSYS based on its multiphysics,
coupled-field capabilities, as well as the local support provided by
Jordan, Apostal, Ritter Associates, Inc., the ANSYS Support Distributor
(ASD), located in close proximity to Raytheon.

As part of the ANSYS implementation, Raytheon also selected the ANSYS for
CADDS product. Developed and marketed by ANSYS, Inc., ANSYS for CADDS
software is integrated into Computervision+s CADDS 5 design system. This
technology provides designers with upfront analysis tools to evaluate and
optimize models early in the design cycle. Raytheon currently has several
hundred licenses of CADDS 5.

According to Peter J. Smith, ANSYS chairman and CEO, "The implementation of
ANSYS at Raytheon is a real-world example of flexible engineering. The
company evaluated its overall engineering environment, including
development processes and its investment in hardware and software.
Raytheon recognizes the advantages of implementing full-ANSYS as its
design analysis and simulation engine, and leveraging its existing design
system. ANSYS for CADDS takes advantage of legacy CAD data and runs on
Raytheon+s existing hardware. By moving analysis onto the designer+s
desktops, Raytheon can increase productivity, shorten production cycles,
and reduce data transfer problems. These are issues that impact the bottom
line."

Peter Kingman, ANSYS Product Manager at Jordan, Apostal, Ritter, adds,
"Raytheon demonstrates how manufacturers are continually evaluating their
product development processes in order to reduce design cycle time to
remain competitive. It also recognizes the competitive edge to be gained
from customized services and local support and training."

ANSYS, Inc. is a leading international supplier of analysis and engineering
software optimizing the design of new products. ANSYS, Inc. is committed
to providing the most open and flexible analysis solution to suit customer
requirements for engineering software in today's competitive marketplace.
A global network of ANSYS Support Distributors provides sales, support,
and training for customers.
