SEQUENT, ANCOR SIGN OEM AGREEMENT

Two-year agreement brings scalable storage capabilities to Sequent's
next-generation NUMA-Q systems

Minneapolis, MN -- May 15, 1996 - - Sequent Computer Systems, Inc.
(NASDAQ:SQNT) and Ancor Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ANCR) announced today
that they have reached an agreement that allows Sequent to resell Ancor's
ANSI Fibre Channel switches as an integrated feature in Sequent's
next-generation NUMA-Q systems. The OEM agreement, with a potential
contract value of up to $30 million over the next two years, offers
Sequent's high-end customers scalable access to disk storage over a Fibre
Channel network.

"The availability of Fibre Channel switches ensures that we will be better
able to address our customers' increasing desire for high speed, increased
bandwidth and greater throughput and reliability," said Ross Summers,
director of Enterprise Systems Marketing for Sequent. "The performance,
scalability and standardization of Ancor's Fibre Channel solutions are a
perfect complement to the NUMA-Q systems we are developing."

Through this agreement, Sequent will resell the Ancor Fibre Channel
switches in conjunction with their NUMA-Q systems, which will be available
in limited shipment in Q-4, 1996.

Additionally, Sequent will develop a Small Computer Systems Interface
(SCSI) to Fibre Channel bridge that will provide its customers with Fibre
Channel access to RAID storage device arrays. Sequent will have exclusive
rights to sell the bridge product under its brand name.

"We continue to see increasing interest in our Fibre Channel products. This
agreement with Sequent not only positions us in the SCSI over Fibre
Channel storage market, but further demonstrates the success of our
business strategies," said Stephen O'Hara, chief executive officer of
Ancor. "This agreement positions Ancor and Fibre Channel as the leader in
the storage network market."
