Adobe Announces Introduction of First Information Appliance Enabled by
Acrobat Player

MediaExpress Projection Device from Proxima Enables Worry-Free
Presentations

Mountain View, Calif., (May 20, 1996) (Nasdaq: ADBE) -- Adobe Systems
Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced the introduction of the first
information appliance to feature the Adobe Acrobat Player system, a
product from Adobe that allows graphically rich information to be shared
beyond the realm of personal computers. Available from Proxima
Corporation, the MediaExpress presentation system uses Acrobat Player to
display Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files and eliminates the
complexities and anxieities of connecting a personal computer to a
projector.

Through Acrobat software and the MediaExpress presentation system,
customers will now be able to create presentations from practically any
authoring tool as well as use content from a wide variety of sources, such
as corporate Intranets, CD-ROMs and the World Wide Web. Users familiar
with a television remote control can now walk up to a Proxima projector,
insert a diskette, and begin pre-senting immediately.

"Projection devices with Acrobat Player will simplify taking critical
information from the cubicle to the boardroom," said Dave Emmett, vice
president, Acrobat products group, Adobe Systems. "We are very excited to
be working with Proxima to help customers easily and universally share
information beyond the limitations of desktop computers."

Designed as an option for Proxima's new Desktop Projector 4100,
MediaExpress is expected to be available through Proxima resellers in May,
1996.

About Acrobat Player

Acrobat Player helps third parties to develop information appliances that
can provide access to visually rich information regardless of the kind of
hardware or software that might be used. Like other products in the
Acrobat family, the Acrobat Player program supports information in the
Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), a resolution independent, universal
file format that preserves document fidelity across computer platforms.
PDF files can be created through Acrobat software from virtually any
authoring tool on practically any computer system. As a result, devices
using Acrobat Player can provide access to a wide range of digital content
without it having to be re-authored in a proprietary format with
specialized tools. Customers can easily convert existing information into
PDF and make it available for immediate use on information appliances that
include Acrobat Player.

The Acrobat Player program uses the same graphics and font rendering
technology as other Acrobat products, faithfully reproducing text and
graphics across different hardware and software environ-ments, and
providing key features such as hypertext linking. Like other Acrobat
products, the Acrobat Player program has an open architecture, allowing
OEMs to extend its functionality for specific applications. Adobe also
provides development tools, co-development resources and source code that
enables OEMs to build highly customized systems supporting a variety of
hardware and software environments. For more information about Acrobat
Player, visit Adobe's Web site at http://www.adobe.com.
