WANG AND MICROSOFT SET COURSE TO BRING INTEGRATED WORK MANAGEMENT TO THE
INTERNET

WANG AND MICROSOFT EXECUTIVES DELIVER JOINT KEYNOTE AT AIIM '96, THE
IMAGING AND WORKFLOW INDUSTRY'S PREMIER CONFERENCE

CHICAGO (April 2, 1996) -- Wang (NASDAQ: WANG) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)
executives took the stage yesterday at AIIM '96, the imaging industry's
premier conference, to communicate their shared Internet vision, which
both companies are executing to extend workflow and imaging technology to
a wider community of businesses and individuals.

Before an audience of approximately 2,000 attendees, Joe Tucci, chairman
and chief executive officer, Wang, along with Bob Weiler, president, Wang
Software, and Paul Maritz, group vice president of the platforms group at
Microsoft, jointly delivered the keynote address, "Integrated Work
Management: Exploring the Possibilities." Tucci, Weiler and Maritz
outlined not only recent innovations in imaging, workflow and Internet
technologies, but also emphasized the significance of open standards
ainitiatives such as the MAPI Workflow Framework, the TIFF Imaging File
Format Standard and Windows Imaging Interface Standards that both Wang and
Microsoft have undertaken since announcing their alliance one year ago at
AIIM '95.

During the address, Wang demonstrated how an advanced, integrated
infrastructure incorporating imaging, workflow and the Internet, will
bridge the gap between an organization's critical business processes and
its customers and partners by enabling access to business process
information through the World Wide Web. This preview reinforced the fact
that this technology combination adds immense value to both businesses and
individuals by allowing the enterprise to expand far beyond what has
traditionally been known as the "four walls" of an organization.

Imaging over the Internet

Using both Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.0 and the Wang imaging
technology that is now available to users of the Microsoft Windows
operating system, Wang demonstrated access to TIFF images over the
Internet using ActiveX Controls and ActiveX Documents. With ActiveX
technology, designers can use Wang's production quality imaging controls
for local, LAN and Internet-connected applications.

Workflow over the Internet

Using an insurance company scenario as the example, Wang demonstrated how
its OPEN/workflow software integrated with Microsoft's Internet
Information Server can allow a user with a Web browser to initiate and
track workflow cases. With a Web browser on his or her desktop, a user is
able to apply for an insurance policy, file a claim, initiate the claims
process at the insurance company, and then track the status of the claim
as it moves through the approval process, and browse associated images
such as appraisers' estimates and police accident reports.

"Today we gave the audience a preview of our powerful Integrated Work
Management technology that is redefining the way people do business," said
Weiler. "Just as imaging has been the cornerstone for work management,
workflow will be the cornerstone for Internet commerce. We will provide
work management solutions that will allow organizations to revolutionize
the way they do business. By working closely with Microsoft, we are
establishing the open standards that organizations need to harness these
powerful work management applications."

Over the past year, the alliance between Wang and Microsoft has set the
industry standard for desktop imaging, with Wang's Imaging for Windows. In
addition, Wang has worked closely with Microsoft in developing the
specification for the MAPI Workflow Framework, which provides a MAPI
standards-based mechanism for workflow systems to interoperate.
