U.S. Robotics announces Total Control "Get Access" Internet Service
Provider program; U.S. Robotics builds on historical success of bulletin
board operator program; continues market leadership with incentives for
Internet Service Providers to purchase Total Control ISDN and analog
remote access servers

SKOKIE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 1996--U.S. Robotics (NASDAQ: USRX)
today announced the Total Control Get Access Program for Internet Service
Providers (ISPs). This new program provides aggressive incentives for ISPs
to purchase Total Control remote access server equipment. The Get Access
Program builds on the success of U.S. Robotics' innovative SYSOP program,
launched in 1987, which quickly established Courier modems as the premier
brand for bulletin board operators.

"The Get Access program will give small- and medium-sized ISPs access to
Total Control products, the premier equipment in the ISP market, at a
lower cost -- allowing them to add ports quickly with a lower initial
capital investment," said Bob Rainone, U.S. Robotics Corporate/Systems
Division director of product management. "Total Control is already a
well-established standard for ISPs, and we expect, mirroring our
unprecedented success in the bulletin board operator market, that this
program will further expand Total Control's presence in the ISP market."

In a recent analysis of market research from IDC, Forrester and other
sources, U.S. Robotics estimates that 80 percent of individuals accessing
the Internet and online services subscribe to providers who use the Total
Control Enterprise Network Hub as their high-speed access platform. In the
last two years alone, U.S. Robotics has shipped more than 350,000 ports to
its service provider customers.

The current Total Control Get Access program will run from April 1 to
September 30, 1996. Upon purchase of any equipment through the program,
ISPs will automatically be registered as a U.S. Robotics ISP Partner, and
will be eligible for other periodic programs and discounts.

ISPs Receive Discounts on Total Control Remote Access Servers The Total
Control Get Access Program will provide Internet Service Providers
aggressive discounts on certain Total Control enterprise access packages.
These packages allow ISPs to select a Total Control Enterprise Network Hub
configured for either analog or concurrent analog/ISDN access.

An accompanying management package for the Total Control Enterprise Network
Hub is also available, including an SNMP management console, security
server software and the Auto Response expert management system. This
management package allows ISPs to securely, flexibly manage access; it
also provides automated, "expert" management of equipment, responding to
system events with no operator intervention.

Each ISP may purchase up to four enterprise access bundles per quarter
(eight total for the duration of the program).

ISPs will also receive discounts on an unlimited number of Total Control 8
and 16 port remote access servers, modem pools and analog/ISDN pools for
the duration of the program. These include Total Control NETServer remote
access servers; Total Control MP integrated modem pools; and Total Control
MP I-Modem ISDN/analog pools.

For more details, ISPs may visit U.S. Robotics' booth at this week's
NetWorld+Interop in Las Vegas, Nevada, Booth No. 5521. For program details
or more information, ISPs should call U.S. Robotics at (800) USR CORP.
