UNISYS UNVEILS HIGH PERFORMANCE 10-PROCESSOR INTEL PENTIUM & PENTIUM PRO
MULTIPLE OS SERVERS

APRIL 15, 1996, BLUE BELL, PA -- Unisys Corporation today said that it will
begin shipping the industry's first 2-10 Intel Pentium Pro ready symmetric
multiprocessing (SMP) servers in April 1996. Called ClearPath SMP61000,
the new servers are, according to the company, designed to deliver high
availability and RISC performance while providing the economic advantages
of mass produced Intel processors..

The Unisys SMP 61000 incorporates the 'future ready' Synchronous Coherent
Memory (SCM) bus and offers outstanding scalability for multiple speeds of
Pentium or Pentium Pro processors. With the Pentium Pro processors,
available in the third quarter 1996, ClearPath SMP61000 servers will be
able to run one of a wide variety of leading operating systems, including
Windows NT, SCO UnixWare, SCO ClearView, or Unisys UNIX System V, Release
4.

Intended for the mid-to-large replicated server market, the SMP61000
servers are ready for commercial applications with mission critical OLTP
requirements. Additionally, they are broadly adaptable platforms for
companies rightsizing or surrounding enterprise host applications and for
a wide variety of business and government mission critical applications.
Based on its advanced integration of hardware and software capabilities,
the new SMP platforms work as extremely effective application, database,
and decision support servers.

TECHNOLOGY ADVANCES The new SMP61000 servers will include:

* Fully scalable architecture for 2 to 10 Pentium or Pentium Pro
  processors
* Pentium processors matched with 2MB of Second Level Cache
* Pentium Pro processors matched with 4MB of Third Level Cache
* Mix and match multiple speeds of Intel Pentium Pro processors
(200MHz and faster) within the same system
* High availability features including hot removable in-cabinet
  disk drives, N +1 Power, RAID 0,1,5.
* Up to 4 GB of ECC System memory initially supported with Pentium
  Pro processors
* A533 MB/second SCM bus with 7 standard PCI and 5 EISA expansion
  slots
* With the availability of Pentium Pro processors, customers can
run one of many operating systems from a selection including,
Microsoft NT version 4 (available early in Q3'96), SCO UnixWare
2.1, Unisys UNIX System V Release 4.0, and SCO OpenServer

TECHNOLOGY BASIS

David McCann, vice president of Unisys ClearPath SMP Server product
marketing stated, "We built these new servers on the success of our
earlier SCM based servers. The engineering development on SCM began during
the early stages of the Intel Pentium processor R & D and has enabled us
to add new Pentium processors to our systems as the devices became
available. We have progressed from the 60MHz Pentium processor of 1994 to
the 150MHz Pentium and 200 MHz Pentium Pro processors of 1996.

"In addition, with the SMP61000 Pentium Pro ready design, we'll add an
innovative third level cache to our own dual processor boards. The design,
code named Sierra, matches the power of the Pentium Pro with 4MB of third
level cache and enables us to configure up to 10 Pentium Pro processors in
one system. Other vendors are having to resort to the NUMA/SCI technology
to get above 4 processors. This will, naturally, entail some changes to
their existing operating systems and applications once that technology is
available."

CLEARPATH SMP61000 INDUSTRY COMMENTS

Richard French, Oracle vice president of Intel based servers, stated,
"Oracle is pleased to offer our latest version of Oracle7 on the ClearPath
SMP61000 running either SVR4 or UnixWare. We have made significant
progress optimizing Oracle for the Pentium Pro based SMP systems and we
look forward to a successful deployment of Oracle on the new Unisys
ClearPath solution."

Gene Lee, Research Manager, Midrange Systems, International Data
Corporation stated, "The new Unisys SMP61000 server, particularly when
equipped with 200 MHz Pentium Pro processors running on Unisys' 533MB/s
SCM system bus, will be a system to reckon with. It will challenge the
best UNIX or NT midrange price/performance from any competitor."

UNISYS CLEARPATH SMP SERVERS

In addition to the ClearPath SMP61000, the Unisys ClearPath SMP server
family includes the ClearPath SMP 5200 (1-2 Pentium processors) and the
SMP5400 (2-4 Pentium processors). The basic strength of Unisys ClearPath
SMP servers is that they are all based on Intel processors. They will also
host any one of the leading operating systems, including Microsoft NT, SCO
UnixWare, or Unisys UNIX System V, Release 4. Additionally, Unisys SMP
servers are all PCI and EISA ready and have an comprehensive suite of
communications software options for enterprise-wide data communications.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

Customer shipments of the ClearPath SMP61000 will begin in April 1996.
Pricing varies according to configuration, but typical pricing ranges from
$90,000 to $150,000 for a system with 4 Pentium processors and from
$190,000 to $240,000 for a system with 8 Pentium Pro processors.
