Unify becomes only second-generation tools vendor to span all major open
systems environments with new OS/2, native DB2 support.

VISION and Unify's integrated application management product AppMan for
VISION support IBM strategies for interoperability and management.

SAN JOSE, Calif., February 23, 1996--Unify Corporation, a leading provider
of advanced, three-tier application development tools, today announced an
agreement with IBM to support Unify VISION and AppMan for VISION on OS/2,
and to provide native DB2 support for both the OS/2 and AIX platforms,
extending Unify VISION's leadership in native support of RDBMS platforms.
With this announcement, Unify VISION becomes the only second-generation
tool that supports the development and management of cross-platform,
cross-database applications that span all major open systems environments
and scale from the department to the enterprise.

In addition to OS/2, Unify VISION and AppMan for VISION currently support
AIX, Sun Solaris, DEC-Alpha, HP-UX, Windows NT, Windows 3.1, Windows 95
and Macintosh. Existing VISION-based applications developed for these
platforms will now run on OS/2 without being recompiled. Unify will also
enable access to existing mainframe/host databases such as DB2 for MVS,
DB2 for AS/400 and DB2 for HP-UX through support of DRDA (distributed
relational database architecture).

According to Scott Canali, vice president of marketing at Unify, the
announcement is a boon to both current OS/2 and VISION customers, as well
as to companies looking for an industrial-strength development tool that
will not limit their choice of platforms. "IBM and Unify are delivering on
customer requirements for scalability, cross platform interoperability,
and application management," said Canali. "With Unify VISION and AppMan
for VISION, developers now have an outstanding environment for building
and managing client/server applications that can run without porting or
recompiling on all major open system platforms."

Management and interoperability are key IBM goals supported by Unify.
AppMan for VISION is the first product to automate the process of building
managed enterprise applications, and integrating them with leading
software distribution, and event and performance management systems, such
as BMC Patrol, IBM SystemView, Tivoli AMS, HP OpenView, and Microsoft
SMS.

"By developing for OS/2 Warp and OS/2 Warp Server, Unify is exploiting the
broad function and incredible power of OS/2 to deliver real value to their
customers," said John Schwarz, vice president of marketing, IBM Personal
Software Products division. "VISION provides customers with the scaleable,
versatile tool they need for building and managing distributed
client/server applications across the enterprise. Unify's investment in
developing VISION for OS/2 is a strong testament to their belief in the
IBM strategy to provide seamless solutions across the enterprise, from the
mainframe to the desktop."

Pricing and availability

Each VISION development kit costs $4,995. VISION v3.0 for OS/2 will soon be
entering beta, with general availability expected in 3Q96, and will
include native connectivity to DB2 on OS/2 and AIX, DRDA direct
client-to-mainframe connection, and access to mainframe data through an
intermediate server running either DB2 or DDCS/DRDA. Unify AppMan for
VISION is priced at $1,995 for unlimited users, per operating system, per
site and will be available on OS/2 at the same time.
