Tippecanoe announces new NT-Based WWW search engine at DB/EXPO `96, . . . .
and its FREE!. . . .

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, DB/EXPO, MOSCONE CENTER, APRIL 16, 1996.........
Tippecanoe Systems, Inc. today announced that it will make available a
free version of its powerful TECUMSEH search engine. Called TECUMSEH
SCOUT, the new search engine is designed to give Web sites full-text plus
concept searching capability.

TECUMSEH SCOUT provides two functions important to any web site which
contains a sizable collection of documents. This can include web pages,
text documents, or even formatted files such as Word for Windows documents
and Excel spreadsheets. First, TECUMSEH SCOUT creates a searchable index
by reading and indexing every word in the document collection. This is
administered using a simple, intuitive, web-enabled interface.

Next, TECUMSEH SCOUT provides a mechanism by which Web browsers can search
the index, via a ready-to-run Common Gateway Interface (CGI) program. The
webmaster simply inserts three lines of HTML-tagged instructions in a web
page to provide the query box and search button.

TECUMSEH SCOUT is more than a simple keyword search engine. TECUMSEH SCOUTS
probabilistic search engine incorporates advanced technology including
statistical term correlation and query expansion, number format
recognition, and relevancy ranking. Plus, TECUMSEH SCOUT stores index
information in a database, not a simple data file. This makes it easy to
add newly indexed pages, or to delete obsolete ones, without having to
re-index the entire collection.

Tecumseh searches are fast, generally taking a fraction of a second, even
for complex Boolean queries on very large databases.

Mike Tyler, President and CEO of Tippecanoe Systems, Inc. states,

Including a professional search capability makes a website much more usable
and versatile to visiting browsers and can make the difference in the user
finding or not finding what the webmaster wants them to see. Tecumseh
simplifies the whole process and provides a world-class search
capability.

The TECUMSEH SCOUT allows the user to index up to 4,000 documents at a
site, more than enough for most personal or small business websites. For
more demanding requirements, Tippecanoe offers: TECUMSEH WORKGROUPS and
TECUMSEH ENTERPRISE.

TECUMSEH WORKGROUPS, designed for workgroup/departmental requirements,
lists for $995 and can index up to 64,000 documents per database.

TECUMSEH ENTERPRISE, designed for enterprise requirements, lists for $3,995
and can index up to 1,000,000 documents per database index.

All three TECUMSEH Information Indexing and Retrieval products, run under
Microsoft's Windows NT operating system. TECUMSEH is scaleable, providing
search solutions spanning single and multiprocessor NT platforms.

Available immediately, the TECUMSEH SCOUT Indexing and Retrieval system for
NT (Intel version) is free, and includes the TECUMSEH server, a
ready-to-run CGI (Common Gateway Interface) program, and a Web-enabled
administration client. Customer training classes and support plans are
available.
