TEXAS INSTRUMENTS ANNOUNCES EXTENSA 570: FASTER, MORE STORAGE, STILL
VALUE-PRICED

DALLAS -- April 15, 1996 -- Expanding its widely successful value line,
Texas Instruments today announced the new Extensa 570CD and 570CDT models
to provide customers with a high quality, value-priced Pentium
processor-based color multimedia notebook computer. The Extensa series
offers the ultimate selection in high performance processing with leading
edge features that include advanced Nickel Metal Hydride (NiHM) battery
technology for extended battery life, large hard drive capacity, SVGA LCD
screens and the latest in CD ROM and multimedia capabilities.

"The Extensa 570CD series was developed by Texas Instruments to meet our
customers' need for a Pentium processor-based notebook computer with
desktop replacement capability at an affordable price," stated Steve Lair,
vice president, worldwide marketing and sales for Texas Instruments'
Personal Productivity Products. "The Extensa 570CD series is ideal for
customers requiring a notebook PC for both portable and desktop
replacement applications. Small to medium business users - as well as
cost-conscious corporate professionals - whose application needs include
sales force automation, training, communications and personal productivity
will find tremendous value in the Extensa series with high performance,
vast expandability and portability."

Power Package

The new Extensa 570CDT notebook computers include many advanced features
such as a high performance 100MHz Pentium processor, PCI bus architecture,
8 MB of RAM (expandable to 40MB), 256K L2 cache, a large 1.2 GB HDD, 4x CD
ROM standard, infrared port compliant with the IrDA (Infrared Data
Association) standard, a brilliant 10.4 inch high-resolution SVGA TFT
active matrix display and an advanced nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery
for up to 2.5 hours of use per charge - all in a sleek 6.4 pound box.

The 570CD features a modular 6X CD ROM drive for ultra-fast retrieval of
information. This model also has all the key features, speed and
multimedia capability of the 570CDT, but its 810 HDD and 11.3" SVGA DSTN
display make it even more affordable for cost conscious small and medium
sized companies.

Full Multimedia Capability on Both New Models

Every 570CD and CDT model sports a complete multimedia package with
on-board 16-bit sound and a built-in microphone and speakers. "The mobile
professional who needs to impress customers with spectacular presentations
can rely on the Extensa 570CD series which are powerful enough for
real-time video playback. The new Extensas also have Sound Blaster Pro
compatibility to enable users to incorporate .WAV and MIDI audio functions
into almost any file or document," said Lair. "With the Extensa, you can
actually interweave .AVI video files with music, special effects or
voice-overs to create stunning presentations," continued Lair.

Modularity Increases Productivity

Texas Instruments was the first to recognize the need for modularity to
give customers the ability to upgrade their notebook computer easily as
technology moves forward. The 570CD and 570CDT both are fully modular, and
with one quick step, users can switch between a second hard drive, the
floppy drive or CD ROM. Another benefit to a modular design is that users
can easily upgrade components as technological advancements make them
available.

Pre-loaded Software With a Choice

Each Extensa 570Cd series is pre-loaded with the most preferred software
packages for added convenience. Providing users with a choice, the Extensa
570CD and 570CDT has a dual-installation option of Windows 95 with its
plug and play simplicity and its on-line documentation or Windows for
Workgroups/MS-DOS. The Extensa 575CD retail version adds the Lotus
Organizer, Quicken SE, Microsoft Works, Microsoft Internet Explorer and
Entertainment Pack.

More Than Notebooks

Texas Instruments has a unique worldwide warranty service. There is no
registration required to activate it and it is honored in any country
where there is a service operation. In addition, to meet service and
support needs of customers, TI offers a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week,
toll-free service and support line. The service line gives owners of any
TI mobile computers free technical support anytime they need it. TI also
guarantees a three day "desk-to-desk" repair service so customers never
have to be without their computer for long.

Every customer has different needs, and TI offers a selection of
accessories to let customers create a custom notebook that is perfect for
their particular needs. From carrying cases that double as a briefcase to
extra batteries for the truly mobile professional, TI customers can order
accessories easily from the TI Express catalog.

With the Extensa 570CD series, a port replicator is also available for
customers who have a "home base" office where they want to make their
notebook a replacement for their desktop. They can take advantage of
Extensa's mobility and still use their current monitor, mouse and
keyboard.
