Syntegration Inc. announces The Secure Workplace for OS/2 Version 4.00

Chino, California, March 25, 1996 -- Today Syntegration, Inc. announced The
Secure Workplace for OS/2 V4.00 which will be introduced at the IBM
Technical Interchange April 23, 1996. New features include File Access
Control, Internal User Identification and Authentication, Single Sign-on,
Audit Trail, Keyboard lock and Screen blanker, and <Ctrl+Alt+Del> plus
<Alt+F1> disablement. Syntegration has enhanced its Workplace object
access control to allow configuration and enforcement of User and Group
based permissions for files, directories and Workplace Shell objects

"Version 4.0 advances the state of the art in OS/2 security and desktop
management. File access control as well as internal user identification
and authentication has been major requirements for our customers. This new
version will satisfy their needs." said Stephen Fox, Syntegration's
President.

The Secure workplace for OS/2 V4.00 will include an Installable Security
System (ISS) for IBM's Security Enabling Services for OS/2 Warp (SES). The
ISS allows administrators to enforce file access control permissions on a
user or group basis.

In previous versions, The Secure Workplace for OS/2 allowed administrators
to use their network operating system to provide user identification and
authentication. In version 4.00, identification and authentication will be
performed internally. At startup, The Secure Workplace V4.00 presents the
user with a sign-on window that prompts for the user identification and
password. The user can also use the sign-on window to change their
password or shutdown the system. The Workplace Shell starts after the user
has been identified and authenticated. The Secure Workplace will allow
administrators to customize user permissions in a desktop or provide users
with their own desktop.

The Secure Workplace for OS/2 version 4.00 enables single sign-on to a
network operating system or remote host. With this feature, users only
identify and authenticate themselves once. Single sign-on is accomplished
by interfacing with the Network Sign on Coordinator (NSC), User Profile
Manager (UPM), or your own custom program. NSC & UPM are provided with
OS/2 Warp Connect, LAN Server, and OS/2 Warp Server.

System administration includes global, user, and group definitions. Access
control definitions are integrated into the Workplace Shell settings'
notebook. This feature allows administrators to define permissions for
Workplace Shell objects, Workplace Shell object pop-up menus, files, and
directories. Workplace object style and pop-up menu permissions include
open, visibility, delete, copy, move, rename, settings, drag, drop, help,
create another, and create shadow. Folder object permissions include
object permissions as well as select, sort, arrange, find, details view,
tree view, and open parent. Desktop permissions include object
permissions, folder permissions, as well as shutdown, lockup, and system
setup. Workplace Drive object permissions include object permissions,
folder permissions as well as check disk, copy disk, and format disk. File
and directory permissions include the appropriate workplace object
permissions as well as create, delete, read, write, execute, and set
attributes.

The Secure Workplace for OS/2 includes an audit trail capability. The audit
trail tracks all user activities. Administrators can configure the product
to record the audit information locally and/or remotely on a file server.
File server based auditing, gives administrators the ability to collect
audit information from multiple workstations in an enterprise network.

The Secure Workplace for OS/2 V4.00 includes a keyboard lock and screen
blanker. This facility is activated after an administrator defined
time-out. After the screen blanker is activated, the user must re-enter
the sign-on password to regain access to the workstation.

The Secure Workplace for OS/2 V4.00 allows administrators to disable the
Ctrl+Alt+Del key combination to prevent unauthorized rebooting of the
system. The product can also disable the ALT+F1 key combination at system
startup to prevent users from restoring an unprotected desktop or
accessing a command prompt.

The Secure Workplace V4.00 will ship in Standard and Professional Editions.
The Standard Edition lists for US$79.95 and excludes multi-desktop
management. Users can add workplace backup, restore, and multi-desktop
management by purchasing the Traveling Workplace which is sold separately.
The Professional Edition includes multi-desktop management and lists for
US$120.00. Additional or site Licenses are available for both editions.
Registered users of The Secure Workplace for OS/2 can upgrade to the
version 4.00 standard edition for $29.95, and to the version 4.00
professional edition for US$45.00. Customers who purchase The Secure
Workplace for OS/2 V3.XX after March 15, 1996 will be entitled to a free
upgrade when V4.00 becomes available.
