NETCOM TO PROVIDE SUBSCRIBERS SURFWATCH AS PARENTAL CONTROL WITHIN
NETCOMplete SERVICE

Leading Internet Provider Chooses Internet's Filtering Software Leader

LOS ALTOS and SAN JOSE, Calif., April 29, 1996 -- SurfWatch Software, Inc.,
and NETCOM On-Line Communication Service, Inc. (Nasdaq:NETC) today
announced an agreement which will enable NETCOM to offer SurfWatch's
parental control capabilities to its more than 400,000 subscribers.
SurfWatch, recently acquired by Spyglass, Inc. (Nasdaq:SPYG), has gained
industry praise as an easy-to-use and robust software program and will be
provided to NETCOMplete subscribers at no charge.

SurfWatch lets parents, teachers and employers block unwanted material from
their Internet access without restricting the access rights of other
Internet users. The SurfWatch software removes no material from the
Internet or any server, but simply blocks it at any computer or local
network where it is installed. SurfWatch screens Internet newsgroups,
World Wide Web, FTP, Gopher, Chat and other services.

Announced this month, NETCOMplete is a comprehensive service package aimed
at providing "Internet Aware" users with a complete Internet solution.
NETCOM's newly branded service is comprised of five strategic components
including access, software, service, support, and value.

"Part of our strategy under NETCOMplete is to provide software solutions
that help subscribers gain better control over their Internet experience.
As the leading parental control solution, SurfWatch will be a tremendous
benefit to our subscribers who have these concerns." said John Zeisler,
senior vice president of Marketing at NETCOM. "Most of our subscribers are
mixed-use professionals who carry their Internet access home with them.
SurfWatch will empower our users with appropriate technology tools to
restrict access to selected portions of the Internet on behalf of their
families."

"Despite the powerful educational and entertainment benefits of the
Internet, widespread access brings the risk that kids will see,
accidentally or deliberately, inappropriate sexually explicit material,"
said Ann Duvall, president of SurfWatch Software. "SurfWatch is the
rational, practical alternative to censorship, and were delighted that
NETCOM subscribers will now be able to take advantage of this powerful
tool."

SurfWatch Becoming Industry Standard

SurfWatch's unique Dynamic Filtering Technology not only blocks sexually
explicit Internet content, but it also keeps children from initially
searching for material in many of the popular Internet search engines.
This powerful feature has helped to make SurfWatch the market leader in
Internet filtering and parental control software.

SurfWatch runs on both Macintosh and Windows-based personal computers. As a
founding member of the PICS consortium, SurfWatch is also supporting the
development of industry-wide Internet rating systems. The software is
available directly from SurfWatch or through software distributors and
retail outlets. As part of its strategy, SurfWatch Software is forging
ties with major Internet services providers such as NETCOM.

NETCOMplete subscribers will receive the initial software free of charge
when they sign up for either a six or twelve month subscription to
SurfWatch site updates. The NETCOMplete price for a six month subscription
to the SurfWatch site updates is $19.95 or twelve months for $29.95. As a
stand-alone product, SurfWatch retails for $49.95, with a monthly
subscription fee of $5.95 for site updates. The service will be available
to NETCOM subscribers in May.
