Stac Announces Planned Support for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 in ReachOut
Remote Access Software

AWARD WINNING REMOTE ACCESS PRODUCT TO BE TIGHTLY INTEGRATED WITH MICROSOFT
WINDOWS NT 4.0

LAS VEGAS, Nev., April 2, 1996 - Stac, Inc. (NASDAQ:STAC) today announced
that it will release a new version of ReachOut, award-winning remote
access software, for Microsoft's Windows NT 4.0 following the shipment of
Windows NT 4.0 later this year. The current version of ReachOut will be
demonstrated at the Networld + Interop show April 2-4 in Las Vegas, Booth
#5745.

"As more and more corporate users migrate to Windows NT, Stac plans to meet
their demands by developing ReachOut with a superior design that will take
advantage of the 32-bit architecture," said John Bromhead, vice president
of marketing for Stac. "ReachOut will deliver the fastest, most reliable
performance under Windows NT 4.0."

ReachOut's design allows it to detect screen changes in real time and
transmit them to the remote viewer as they occur. Consequently, the image
on the ReachOut viewer screen stays synchronized with the user's keyboard
and mouse actions. pcANYWHERE32, on the other hand, saves up screen
changes and sends them at intervals, causing the viewer screen to lag
behind what the user is doing.

"ReachOut users see each character as they are typing, rather than having
to wait until half a sentence is typed before they get any feedback,"
continued Bromhead. "ReachOut's architecture provides a much faster
response time for the user."

"Stac has consistently met our customer requirements with ReachOut
providing a faster, more capable, and more reliable solution than any
other remote access product currently available for Windows," said Bill
Botti, president of Computer Networks, Inc., a value-added reseller that
specializes in remote access software. "We are eagerly anticipating the
release of ReachOut for Windows NT later this year and looking forward to
the added benefits that an integrated 32-bit solution will provide to our
users."

In one single package ReachOut provides support for Windows 95, Windows 3.1
and DOS, with modem, network, host and viewer components all included. A
free 30-day timed evaluation of ReachOut is also available on Stac's home
page at http://www.stac.com.
