New Spyglass' Web Technology Kit Supports Sun Microsystems Java

Spyglass WTK Offers The Most Technology Choices for Developers

Naperville, Ill. -- Monday, April 15, 1996 -- Touting the most choices of
embeddable World-Wide Web technology, Spyglass announced support for Sun
Microsystem's Java programming language and JavaScript scripting language
in the newly introduced Spyglass Web Technology Kit (WTK) for client
applications.

The new Spyglass WTK breaks out Spyglass' client technology into components
for easier integration of Web technologies. The WTK is the most
comprehensive Web technology offering available today because it covers
multiple platforms and offers a complete, high-quality set of premium Web
technologies that developers can "mix and match" for their solution.

"We're pleased to see that Java has received another vote of confidence
with Spyglass' support," said Jon Kaunegaard, vice president of JavaSoft.
"With its strong distribution network, wide deployment of technology in a
number of applications and large number of client/partners, Spyglass will
accelerate acceptance of Java in the marketplace."

Spyglass Web client and server technology is pervasive, with more than 60
client partners who embed Web technology in more than 150 branded
applications, services and devices, including Microsoft's Internet
Explorer Web browser, MicroTouch's kiosk systems and SmartServe's
Web-enabled telephone systems. Spyglass technology is now easier to embed
in a variety of applications, services and devices that employ the Web
with the WTK.

"Spyglass is providing developers and integrators with the easiest, most
flexible and most economical way to Web-enable new applications, services
and devices," said Marc Miller, executive vice president of marketing for
Spyglass. "We offer the best embeddable technology for Web applications.
With Java support, we give developers the option of two-way integration to
create dynamic Web applications."
