CyberSurfari '96 Enters Classrooms Across America

SPA's "Virtual Classroom" Provides Lesson Ideas For Teachers And Students
In Preparation For Oct. 22nd Launch

APRIL 22, 1996 (Washington, D.C.) -- The Software Publishers Association is
pleased to present the CyberSurfari '96 Virtual Classroom, available to
teachers begining today. This program is designed to help teachers and
students become more adept in effectively traveling the endless caverns of
the Web to find educational resources. The CyberSurfari Virtual Classroom
Web site, at http://www.spa.org, features lesson ideas for teachers and
students as well as sample "practice" clues in preparation for the
CyberSurfari '96 launch on Oct. 22, 1996.

The Virtual Classroom will be centered around a different theme each month
and will be updated on the 22nd. By meshing active learning with new
technology, the CyberSurfari program engages and excites students with the
technology available to them in their schools and may provide a boost of
funds for some schools without access.

CyberSurfari Virtual Classroom offers an opportunity to enhance cross-
subject learning and real-world applications for students. CyberSurfari
strives to help teachers implement technology in their classrooms by
providing practical implementations enhancing their existing curriculum.

During the CyberSurfari contest (the digital form of the traditional
treasure hunt), students have an opportunity to seek out treasure codes on
exciting Web sites all along the information superhighway. The two-week
contest challenges school teams to compete for cash, computer hardware and
software for their schools.
