SEAGATE OFFERS OS/2 WARP SUPPORT FOR NEW TR-4 MINICARTRIDGE TAPE DRIVES

COSTA MESA, Calif., April 22, 1996 -- Seagate Technology, Inc. (NYSE:SEG)
today announced the availability of three new Travan TR-4 tape backup
solutions for the OS/2 market. These one-inch high, 3.5-inch TR-4
minicartridge tape systems provide OS/2 Warp users with 8GB of compressed
capacity, a data transfer rate of up to 60MB per minute, and backward
read/write compatibility with the QIC-3080 format.

Available in either SCSI or IDE interfaces, Seagate's new TR-4 tape backup
kits include the internal CTT8000R SCSI, CTT8000R IDE, or external
CTT8000E SCSI tape drive with Computer Data Strategies' comprehensive,
easy-to-use Back Again/2 backup and recovery software, a Travan tape and
documentation.

"We are pleased to provide the IBM OS/2 market with a comprehensive
hardware and software tape backup solution that leverages the high
performance of our new Travan TR-4 minicartridge tape drive", said Brian
Dexheimer, vice president of product line management and marketing for the
Seagate Tape Operation.

Seagate's family of high performance minicartridge tape drives has been
designed to use 3M's Travan and Sony's QIC-Wide media for providing
reliable, high capacity data storage on a single low-cost cartridge, which
makes these drives the most cost-effective backup solution on the market
today.

Back Again/2, designed exclusively for systems running in the OS/2
environment, features an intuitive graphical interface, a built-in
scheduler, a stand-alone restore facility, password protection, and "drag
and drop" file selection flexibility.
