PURE SOFTWARE EXTENDS DISTRIBUTION OF AUTOMATED SOFTWARE QUALITY PRODUCTS
TO ADA 95 MARKETS

Objective Interface Systems to Resell and Support Quality Development
Products

SUNNYVALE, CA -- April 23, 1996 -- Pure Software today announced an
agreement with Objective Interface Systems, Inc. (OIS) of Reston,
Virginia, to market, resell and support three of Pure Software's
industry-leading automated software quality products -- Purify, Quantify
and PureCoverage. The agreement demonstrates an increased effort by both
companies to provide the highest-quality tools to developers of
mission-critical Ada applications. Under the terms of the agreement, OIS
will bundle the Pure Software products into its Acumentor suite of Ada 95
development tools under the name Acumentor/Pure.

Purify is the industry-leading run-time error detector, with more than
40,000 licenses sold worldwide. Based on Pure Software's patented Object
Code Insertion (OCI) technology, Purify locates run-time errors and memory
leaks anywhere they occur in Windows and UNIX applications, enabling
developers to spend less time debugging and more time developing.

Quantify, also based on Pure Software's OCI technology, automatically
identifies portions of application code that slow down execution speed and
assists in optimizing application performance. Quantify locates
performance bottlenecks and displays performance results in a graphical
user interface.

PureCoverage, a powerful code coverage analysis product, ensures code
quality by locating unexecuted, and therefore, untested code. PureCoverage
is fully integrated with Purify.

"Acumentor/Pure provides Ada programmers with industry-proven, commercial
code testing tools," said Bill Beckwith, chief product engineer at OIS.
"We have first-hand experience with Pure Software's products and use them
in our own development lab. Code quality is vital when building
distributed systems. Many critical systems today rely on Ada to deliver
high-performance and reliability. Acumentor/Pure enhances Ada's built-in
quality features for delivering systems that work. Our Ada customers will
stand for nothing less than clean, proven code; they can't afford the
alternative," stated Beckwith.

"By teaming with OIS, we're able to deliver our automated software quality
products to Ada developers," said Pamela Roussos, product manager at Pure
Software. "OIS has a strong history of providing high-quality development
tools to customers building mission-critical, distributed applications.
We're excited to work with OIS to extend our products to the Ada software
development market."

Initial availability of the Acumentor/Pure product suite is planned for the
second quarter of 1996 on SunSoft Solaris and HP-UX.

Pure Software, with more than 4,000 corporate customers, is the world
leader in Automated Software Quality (ASQ) tools that improve the
reliability, scalability and performance of Windows, UNIX and Web
applications. Pure Software is the only ASQ company that addresses the
entire software lifecycle of development, testing and deployment. Based in
Sunnyvale, California, Pure Software posted revenues of $44 million for
1995, a 100 percent increase over 1994 revenues. The company's shares are
traded under Nasdaq: PRSW. More information on Pure Software is available

Founded in 1989, OIS of Reston, Virginia, develops and markets tools for
software applications developers. OIS products are offered under the
Acumentor object-oriented development suite of fully interoperable
components. Included in the Acumentor suite of programming tools are:
Acumentor/Orbix for Ada 95, a CORBA development environment for building
distributed systems (a joint product of OIS and IONA Technologies, Ltd.);
Acumentor/Orbix for C++; Acumentor/Orbix for Java (available Q3 1996);
Acumentor/SQL (available Q2 1996), a high- performance, object-oriented
data management framework based on ODBC; Acumentor/GUI (release Q3 1996),
an advanced graphics development environment that represents OIS's
implementation of the X Consortium's Fresco standard; and, Screen Machine,
a platform-independent, graphical user interface builder for Ada. OIS also
develops, maintains and supports two Sybase-marketed products:
Open-Client/Ada and Ada Workbench.
