PANASONIC ADDS ENTRY-LEVEL UNIT TO PRODUCTION-SCANNER LINE

New KV-SS25 Combines Low Price With Nigh-End Features

SECAUCUS, NJ -- Panasonic Computer Peripheral Company (PCPC) announces an
addition to its line of production scanners. The new KV-SS25 offers
excellent document reproduction, image enhancement tochnology and a
maximum scanning rate of 20 pages-per-minute. The KV-SS25 carries a
manufacturer's suggested retail price* (MSRP) of under $5,000.

According to Timothy J. Curran, vice president for Panasonic Computer
Peripheral Company, "The KV-SS25 is designed to make production scanning
affordable. There is a large group of people who could use production
scanners, but have been unable to afford them."

Like Panasonic's four other production scanners, the KV-SS25 features a
space-saving mini-tower design and is able to process a wide range of
paper sizes (from business cards to legal) and weights (from onion skin to
card stock). And since Panasonic uses a reverse gravity feed, the scanner
boasts an extremely low "misfeed" rate. It also offers simplex (one-sided)
as well as duplex (two-sided) scanning modes at speeds of 20
pages-per-minute (ppm) and 10 ppm, respectively. The KV-SS25 has a one
million page preventative maintenance cycle and unlimited daily duty
cycle.

The KV-SS25 comes standard with state-of-the-art Panasonic Image
Enhancement technology (PIE). Images are captured in black and white
binary or grey scale mode. Industry standard TWAIN and ISIS drivers are
also available.

The scanning function offers operator-selectable resolution from 150 to 300
dots per inch (dpi). It features a one year limited warranty with a
next-day exchange program for both in- and out-of-warranty repairs. The
program stipulates that after a hotline engineer diagnoses a problem, a
replacement unit is exchanged for the defective scanner within 24 hours
from when the problem was first reported. Customers requiring service
simply call Panasonic's 1-800-PANASYS line, during normal business hours,
for technical support.

The KV-SS25 is available through authorized Panasonic resellers and
distributors. The scanner is ideal for form processing, optical character
recognition (OCR), workgroup and desktop imaging applications.

In the United States, Panasonic Computer Peripheral Company (PCPC), a
division company of Panasonic Communications & Systems Company (PCSC) and
a unit of Matsushita Electric Corp. of America, markets an extensive line
of computer equipment that includes: monochrome and color laser printers,
impact forms printers; multifunction devices; multimedia speakers; color
monitors; PD/CD-ROM, CD-ROM and CD-Recordable drives; optical disk and
high-capacity storage devices; gray scale and color scanners; and
electronic filing systems.
