STUDY REVEALS STRONG ROI FOR PC DOCS CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS BASED ON MICROSOFT
BACKOFFICE

Returns Realized Across Industry Sectors and Application Types

AIIM Show Booth #543, Chicago, Illinois -- April 1, 1996 -- PC DOCS, Inc.,
a subsidiary of PC DOCS Group International Inc., and a leader in
enterprise document management solutions, announced today the preliminary
findings of an independent study by IDC/Avante Technology, the recognized
leader in assessing the financial impact of software investments.
According to Scott McCready, principal of IDC/Avante Technologies, "Based
on our research, we've come to the definitive conclusion that companies
will realize a huge bang for their buck when they implement DOCS Open from
PC DOCS."

Participants in the study represented a variety of industries including
financial services, government, pharmaceutical, professional services,
chemical manufacturing, and telecommunications. The study spanned sites
ranging from hundreds to several thousand PC DOCS users, in the U.S. and
abroad. Many of the companies surveyed used PC DOCS products based on
Microsoft Windows NT Server 3.51 and Microsoft SQL Server 6.0 to connect
multiple locations across the globe.

Some of the results from the report include:

* The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA): The DEA is responsible for combating
drug trafficking throughout the world. Due to the sensitive nature of its
operations, every major DEA office must be inspected every 12 months to
ensure compliance with the Agency's policies and procedures. Prior to
deploying DOCS Open from PC DOCS, these paper- based inspection reports
took 4 to 6 months to be completed and distributed to the field. Now, with
the agency's implementation of DOCS Open from PC DOCS, these reports can
be completed and distributed within a week. As a result, appropriate
action can be taken almost immediately. This represents a 400 percent
improvement in the number of inspections completed, with identical
staffing levels.

* Thomas Cooke: A dream vacation can quickly turn into a nightmare when
travelers checks disappear. Thomas Cooke, the largest issuer of travelers
checks outside of the United States, is using DOCS Open as the cornerstone
of its Refund Management System to refund customers whose travelers checks
have been lost or stolen. In this event, a customer can call the
designated hotline and the DOCS Open Refund Management System used by
Thomas Cooke takes over and sets in motion the reimbursement. Prior to the
deployment of DOCS Open, this was largely a manual process which was
entirely paper-based and time consuming. With the Refund Management
System, Thomas Cooke has been able to double their volume of business in
the last year while at the same time realizing lower processing costs and
higher levels of customer satisfaction.

"We're pleased that PC DOCS, as a leading Microsoft Solution Provider, is
driving BackOffice technology with their Document Management suite of
products in over 50% of their sales," commented Rich Tong, division
marketing manager, business systems division at Microsoft. "The analysis
done by PC DOCS and IDC/Avante confirms the positive financial impact of
DOCS Open and the Microsoft BackOffice products."

"Our customers are using DOCS Open as the cornerstone of their business
reeingineering, process streamlining, and product line expansion. Not only
are the customer ROI's strong, but the Net Present Values (NPV), which
measure the magnitude of profit associated with each site's DOCS Open
implementation, are exceptionally high. For example, the NPV of the Royal
Bank implementation of DOCS Open is nearly $3 million per year," according
to Ann Palermo, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at PC DOCS, Inc.

"IDC/Avante wrote the book on ROI analysis, and Scott McCready is the
recognized expert on financial returns on software investments," stated
Larry Bohn, Executive Vice President and General Manager at PC DOCS, Inc.
"McCready's expertise lends bulletproof credibility to the overwhelmingly
strong results we found in our ROI study."

According to McCready, "In our study, we found that DOCS Open was typically
being used in one of three ways - within a department, throughout the
company, or across the entire enterprise to connect businesses with their
customers and suppliers. What's most compelling about DOCS Open is the
fact that regardless of where or how an organization first chooses to
deploy it, the return on their investment will be quite strong." McCready
also added, "DOCS Open fits into existing environments and is flexible
enough to be used in many different ways. This flexibility directly
relates to lower operating costs and leads to a good return on
investment."
